HAY THAR LACRIMA RESIDENTS.
I decided to start an art thread, because I get bored and like to draw. So like, post your art! It doesn't have to be Riviera, since we are in the offtopic board, though it'd be nice. ;D Either way, its cool.

SO POST.

I go first kthx.

But drawing isn't a competition, Teru. ;_; Your art is way cute, but you're right, you don't proportion the head with the body. Its still very cute, though.

No, it is RIVALS and COMPETITION that drives one to improve >:O! I HAVE FAILED AND I MUST WORK HARDER AND KICK EVERYONE'S BUTT >:O
There's only one way to amend for this mistake, and it's to draw an awesome picture.

cute. weird hair though :P

ANDYESTERUCOMPETITIONANDRIVALSARETHEONLYWAYTOIMPROVEONE'SSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELF!!!!

no doubt about it. the only thing which makes any business or skill improve is a rival. that means competition. competition means to struggle. to struggle means to improve on your part!!!

YESS TO RIVALS!!!! D:<

okay. that was weird.

besides, Liger's drawings are way cute ^^

Yes to Rivals, no to competition? I'm driven to improve by inspiration that I get when I see pretty art by really good artists XD I guess in a way I want to be as good as them even though I probably never will be. I draw for fun (and as a way of toning out my dull boring teachers *slap'd*)..

In Liger's mind - Rivals (I don't think they should be called that... more like artists with admirable skill)=Inspiration, Competition=stop trying, you're gonna lose XD

lol. see?! it wasn't that bad :P

her drawings are far cuter and better than mine. mine is.......well, sort of retarded. i need to adopt a new eye style and learn how to CG if not i'll never get anywhere. and since my drawings are those 'realistic' kind, the color is very hard to get and blend!!! @_@

What program do you use to CG? if you have nice dark lines when you scan in, and you're using Adobe (only program I can really use for nice coloring XD) don't even bother going over and inking (it's a pain in the ass anyways) create new layers over your lines (yes over) and set the layers to "Multiply". Fill in the correct (flat, no shading yet) colors, and make a new layer for each new color, or where-ever you see fit. Then use the "Dodge" and "Burn" tools to highlight and shade (set on Airbrush, not on hard brush, and set on midtones, opacity (or whatever it's called) 50%). As long as you have nice dark lines, you won't really need to worry about inking or not inking.

I suck at explaining things.

using Dodge and Burn as highlight and shading is not a good idea. Its like using a crutch instead of figuring out what colours are best for colouring.

Seriously, gotta learn the colour wheel, folks.

personally, i advise to never use dodge or burn. for one, it means that if you want to go over it with color, you won't be able to do it.

i do my coloring and inking on Photoshop. i use many many layers. one for the inking, one for the hair, one for the eyes, one for the hair color, three for the shadows and another for light.

^^'' thats a total of 8 layers ^^''

and thats jut my avatar. i want to CG my other works, too.
