QUOTE(P.P.A. @ Jul 10 2008, 01:14 PM) QUOTE(WhiteKnight @ Jul 10 2008, 06:14 PM) QUOTE(P.P.A. @ Jul 10 2008, 11:40 AM) Sonic and the Secret Rings - I saw this in a Dutch shop for 20€ and picked it up. WHat a mistake. THIS GAME IS THE WORST FUCKING SONIC GAME EVER! Yes, even worse than G-Sonic, Shuffle, and Rush. YET I AM STILL TRYING TO BEAT IT JUST WHY SOMEONE HELP ME
BAAAAW Seriously, it DOES get better. If you're not the patient type, then screw the whole thing. I already have it for a few days now and already beat Pirate Storm. It progressively got WORSE thus far. The music is throughoutly awful, with the only exception so far being Levitated Ruin. And unless there's an upgrade available that stops the utterly retarded constant forward-running and/or enables me to just use a freaking GC controller I doubt much's gonna change. It didn't say it got better by advancing the story. What I should have said is that it gets better as you acquire high-end skills like Homing Recovery, Warp Dash, Hyper Speed-Up, etc. Only recently did I get those skills, and they really make a difference. I'm actually getting gold medals now, and through that, EVEN MORE skills. That constant forward running is part of the challenge. You missed some rings at got to the goal in a collect rings mission and failed? GET BETTER. You hit a fire geyser in a perfect challenge because of the forward running? lrn2steer. You got a pearl in a No Pearl? Turn of your damn pearl collector, they're not hard at all to dodge. Using a GC controller would make the game to easy. If you want to use it that badly, do it in Party mode, provided you have a friend willing to be player 1. And for the record, the last two worlds> every other world.

Call it a challenge, for me it's simply a stupid idea. I've got nothing against constantly going forward in games like Kirby Air Ride (<3) or Sonic Riders (</ /3)), but not i a freaking PLATFORMER. That, and why the fuck would I want upgrades that mek me go EVEN FASTER? That'd make the game even harder to control! The mission thing is retarded as well. Nothing against adding replay value by putting those missions in a challenge mode of some sorts (like in SA2 for example), but making them nessecary to advance in the main game? The fuck. I don't need missions anyway! S06 doesn't have any (for the action stages at least), and yet I played those levels a lot simply for getting S-ranks or generally just for the sake of it. We know Sonic isn't supposed to be solely about speed, but for someone who likes to speedrun Sonic games, you're making very very little sense. He's right though. Operation Darkness is a fucking disgrace. Graphically, so is Disgaea 3, very few people seem to give a shit. People were saying it was gay when they showed the first screen shots. And Operation Darkness is an atrocity. Just download the demo off Live and play it for a bit. You'll know exactly what I mean. A game has to be a special kind of shit to get a 20% from the official Xbox magazine. Apologists used to defend games like this on the PS2 a generation ago. Both had shitty art direction that is barely passable for the previous generation, much less the current one, both have crap ass gameplay unappealing to just about everyone, and both have the balls to charge the full retail price at launch. It's a fucking insult. Operation Darkness deserves whatever shit is flung at it.

I don't know, I'll check the demo out, but all the reviews I've read so far seem to whine about very silly things, like OMG I LOSE CHARACTERS PERMANENTLY IN AN SRPG?
