I know this is a Dept. Heaven series forum, but I want to know what the people of this forum think.
I'd like for people to be critical and point out both positive and negative aspects.
Also do you people think it lived up to the Riviera plot and interactive essences?
Beyond spoilers please tell me all of what you think of the game as a whole.

I liked it a lot and I originally wasn't interested in it for some reason.

Definitely get the PSP version though, great voice acting, higher res art, sprites make it even more awesome.

I agree with aero.

GET RIVIERA PSP TOO.

YOU NEED BATH SCENES.

It's a good game.

Personally, I prefer Riviera and Disgaea.

But Yggdra Union is a safe buy. Definitely.

Yes. It is amazing and one of the finest games I have ever played.
Get the PSP version though; it's so much of an improvement to the already great GBA version.

I've only played the PSP version for a few minutes, (its my friend's) but even from that I can tell it's way better.
Graphics and voices are better, but that's all I picked up on.

What are the other big changes?

Um.. Could anyone tell me the aspects you liked about the game?
Does the game reference Riviera at any point?
Also I can't get the PSP version because I only have a DS.

The battle style is similar to Fire Emblem, so it's fun.

I don't remember any referances to Riviera, and be careful asking because I did the same with Knights in the Nightmare and was sniped by Sturm for "being a fanboy". I can't help it if I orgasmically love Riviera.

Also, if you must settle for the GBA version, it's still not much of a loss. It was still a great game.

I wouldn't say it's similar to SRPGs like Fire Emblem or Disgaea. The focus of the battle system is in the clashes, which there is like, no equivalent for in the majority of SRPGs out there. The battle system is by far THE reason to play it, though. It's so fun.

Only a few characters really get any development in the story, although the ones that do are fairly interesting (I really liked Yggdra's development throughout the game). The story itself is nothing special. Neither is the music, although for some reason I really liked it when I first played. The graphics are mostly really nice in both versions. It's funny, because there are only a few sprites for each animation in the game, but it still looks great because the sprites themselves are so detailed.

My only real problem with the game is the difficulty. There is no happy medium with it. If you don't pay attention to the mechanics, it's a really hard game. But if you do pay attention, it's really easy. Also, it does reference Riviera quite a bit, but it's mostly just in items, names, and some designs. You should feel bad if you let references affect your decision in any way, though!

So there's my jumble of unorganized thoughts.

For once the graphics and music are both excellent and the story is interesting, but the gameplay is the best thing about it. It does look like FE at first but is much more complex, in-depth and fun.
The GBA version is of course excellent already, but the PSP version allows you to speed up battles, has far superior graphics, better music, Easy Mode (the GBA difficulty is pretty hard) a bonus battlefield and a lot of other neat stuff.

EDIT: RHIA WAS HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER

IS there any voice acting in this game at all? (GBA version.)

I don't remember there being any voice acting in the GBA version.

The PSP version is so superior though.

PSP version is way better than the GBA version.
It's worth it.

He'd actually have to buy a PSP, though. YOU FORGET, PSPS ARE EXPENSIVE WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE ONE ALREADY.

I can't believe they're selling used fat PSPs for $130 at Gamestop.
