1) Don't suck 2) Don't require iads/iabds to get to a level above mediocre 3) Aren't Capcom 4) Have decent to good netplay 5) Doesn't have a name that begins with Super and ends in Bros/Melee/Brawl 6) Doesn't have wonky physics exploits.

3d fighters lack technicality for the most part and tend to sloooow things down an awful lot. There's typically less actual variety in how to go about your tactics, and much less of a focus on spacing and zoning, with rushdown and constant pressure being practically all there is to it for the most part.
