We are its elitists. We, who know the random variance of a thousand spells, the blood types of a thousand creatures, over a thousand blades, we can see Riviera in all its glory. We are not blinded by the differences that Riviera brings to RPGs. Nor do we ignore them. We see them, and we understand, "This is good". We see the lack of movement options as a way to free us from pointless choices. We see the lack of random battles as a way to free us from random battles. We see Practice Mode, its replacement, say to us, "For lo, I have returned to level you up, but I shall be optional!" We see that the limited knapsack, item wear, and in-battle item limit as removing all limits from strategic choices and from the "One man one weapon" rule put in place by our forebears.

Not to mention the beautiful and unique artwork (primarily the backgrounds), great compositions and the fact that it mixes such a lot of elements from totally different genres that it can not even really be ordered into a pre-existing category of video games, being this exceptionally innovative and original.

Also bath scenes.

You're just trying to get us to say something. But I can't think of something to say that fits and is funny.

So I'll just say, INFINITE EINHERJAR SUCKS.

Yes! Only true artists can appreciate Riveria for all its worth, for others are blind to the true meaning of art!

I didn't say anything about artists.
I was talking about elitists, and about the geniuses we follow.
There are over a thousand "artists"
Who look down on games
And look down on mechanics.
They would be hardpressed to tell you what's so great about a unique video game.
Those "artists" will never understand why something so fresh is beautiful.
You missed the whole point of my Riviera Elitist Rant.

Argh. I swear to god I did not mean artists when I typed artists. It kinda slipped in there without me noticing.

Think of all the gorgeous ladies and that epic soundtrack always playing the right music at the right time.

Agreed.

Aside from that, Riviera has so much depth. It truly is a cult classic.

My only regret is that more people do not know of its beauty. So I try to preach it to everyone I know, much to their annoyance. :3

Riviera doesn't need more people knowing about it.

Why not?

It's a truly amazing work of art.

Because Riviera has enough fans.

Also, if you're being serious, it isn't -that- great.

I didn't say it wasn't great, I said it's not as great as you say it is.

I play Riviera for two reasons: IPB Image IPB Image

IIRC, credits go to Feral Phoenix for Fiaa's icon and ChefMKT for the Lyuri scan.
