It came. <3 I scanned the front and back of the instruction manual because of pretty sort of-new art.

Front. Back.

And with that, I'm off to play.

Mnh. There's still lots of space in the Downloads section; it seems as though they're holding off putting up the wallpapers.

But you know there will be riots if there are not. *nods sagely*

YES I HATE MIZER AND HE IS THE ONLY HARD THING ABOUT THIS GAME SO FAR ASIDE FROM ATTEMPTING TO FORCE MY WAY THROUGH BF13.

SO. CHANGES AND SUCH. If you want to be surprised, you should not be in this topic. >:(

Thunderbolt's status effect (which Sting so intelligently named "Palyze") stops you from moving on the map. It's horrible. Mizer always somehow manages to paralyze the most important character on every battlefield he's in. :( Flame's status effect, Burn, seems to just do damage each turn. Maybe it does more, but I haven't noticed anything else. Rock Fall's status effect is Slow, which is like Curse but without any effect on your performance in clashes.

In clashes, there are no sprites on the side to tell you the union's lineup or anything. So you have to pay attention. And if you pause, it shows how good/bad each prediction mark thing is. There's an event banner that was changed (the English part now says "Valiant blade delivers its lord" instead of "An honorable blade ot the rescue" or whatever. I have bad memory. The knight in BF3 that had Protect in the GBA version has it no longer, and now it moves around, too. Which actually makes that part really easy.

Speaking of easier. You heal a ton of morale when you level up. I've only used items to heal morale after battles with Mizer, because I really haven't needed them, even though I'm making a lot of mistakes this playthrough. Refreshment's new morale recovery seems to be around 10% of your max. The Ishiene/Brave Ring glitch seems to be fixed, the Baldus glitch is fixed, and I'm pretty sure they've made it impossible to get the four bonus glitch. Not by removing it, but by moving the terrain part of morale damage calculation to the bottom of the morale circle. <_<

In BF13, you can get to a new battlefield by visiting the previously nonexistant villages on the second part. Two, actually. At least two. BF14I and BF14II. BF14I has you fighting Baldus (equipped with... a Medallion?) and some nameless people, all with High status. Eventually a neutral Mistel appears and you have to move everyone to a flag that appears because she's nice and is helping us. <3

I couldn't figure out the name of Mistel's card, though. It was Oblivia Stone or something. I don't know. Maybe I read it wrong. I'll probably find out soon.

OH OH AND MY FAVORITE CHANGE SO FAR: THE ABILITY TO SPEED UP EVERRRYTHIIING.

I don't see why you people whine about it being in Japanese. The game is still playable, and if you wanted to know the storyline that bad, you could translate just about every dialogue scene in the game yourself.

Up to BF27. I'm done for today. :(

WHAT I LEARNED: Sting is stupid.

They switched the usage of the "Onward, Dragon Generals!" and "Onward, Imperial Commanders!" which means that the Dragon General music plays against people like, uh, Zilva, and the actual Dragon Generals get kind of boring music. I hate them for this.

If you go to BF14I and BF14II, you skip normal BF14. Mistel joins you in BF14II. Her starting stats (keep in mind this is with her starting equipment, too, which just happens to be a new item): 2-7 GEN, 2-5 ATK, 2-5 TEC, 1-9 LUK, 4680 Morale. She comes at level 7, by the way. Her only effect is Good in Towns, and she has no aggressive element.

In BF14II, you basically just fight Baldus for a few turns, and then Aegina appears to annoy you (AGAIN). She was equipped with the Flamberge (which I missed in BF3) so you get a second chance at it if you go to this battlefield. Aegina has protect, and I'm guessing Baldus does too. Eventually Fry (BLYYYYYYYYYYYY) tells you to go to a place, and after a turn of sitting in that place, the volcano erupts and deals damage to them and removes their protect status. By the way, there's a new item in this battlefield. It's called Glistening Volcanic Ash, and it's on the seventh square right, second square down. I'm wonderful at giving instructions.

After the battle, you get Mistel's card, Oblivious Dawn. It has ten MOV, the Ace is Scythe, only Mistel can use it, and it's an A-activated skill that lowers the enemy's rage gauge. Honestly, it's the only reason I'm still using her despite her horribly low stats. I'm keeping track of her stat growth, too. If anyone's interested, I'll post what I have so far.

I actually found out that you can bring out something like those little sprites on the sides of clashes by pressing L. I wish I knew that earlier. :( What's stupid is that you're going to have to press it for every clash that you want to see it in, because it doesn't stay.

I don't understand BF16 anymore. You don't have to get hit by the cannon six times, but you don't have to kill all of the enemies, either. That one knight is no longer invincible, at least. And then there's BF18... the enemies will move now. Sounds fun, doesn't it?

Also: I haven't found a use for the Glistening Volcanic Ash yet, they fixed the R+A glitch, I have not found the other new card you can get, Pamela's a Mystic Witch like in the English version now (but you knew that, I'm sure), and I could not figure out how to get Pamela to join me. :(

Well, I suppose they would have to give Mistel lower starting stats to offset her weapon type, since Scythes trump almost everything and have no weaknesses. Still, Forbidden Fruit y/y? :DD

(I... think that aside from Roswell, Mistel is going to be my most-abused party member. XD)

Morale recovery on level-ups? THANK GOD. The only thing I really hated about the game before was how you never automatically regained Morale other than when you get Yggdra back in chapter 5. @_@~

Um... Rhia, would you mind if I PMed you with a few questions about the details of Mistel's story circumstances? I know her personality and the fact that she's Bly's granddaughter (because it says so on the site), but I do need a few more specifics in order to write her. I don't know if Sting is stupider or me, but suddenly adding extra characters while I'm in the middle of writing a story that has to include all members of the Royal Army... DD:

Also--is Bly actually an NPC, and does he go with the Royal Army or stay in Lenessey? And how does BF18 with freely moving troops work? They moved before, but never seemed to go beyond a certain point...

You can if you want, but I don't know how much I'll be able to tell you since I didn't take the time to read most of the dialogue. It would have taken ages, and I just wanted to play. :(

Bly is just an NPC, and he stays in the Lenessey Mountains. The screenshot of him on the site with a green sprite was just for that scene. And there was actually a generic nameless hunter with that type of sprite in that scene, too.

The enemies moved before in BF18? I had never seen that before. It's probably no different, in that case. Two enemies moved up one square and before they got another turn the battle ended.
