Ariados's movepool has been fine since RSE, and he has ALWAYS had decent Attack. It's only his other stats that suck, and that can be worked around.

I'm of the opinion that Ariados was always a really bad Pokemon. He was a really cool one, but pretty bad. :(

Because the moves he had before that were good are horrible choices now. Signal Beam? Special. Sludge Bomb? Special. I don't remember the others, but those were good moves. >:/

He's always been bad, but COULD have been so much better with Trick Room if they hadn't killed his moves.

And, you know, there's really nothing you can argue against about Sceptile losing a lot of potential. Aside from spamming Swords Dance, there is nothing he can do now that will be better than what he had before.

I always though he was the most useful grass-based starting pokemon.

Untill Torterra that is.

True, but Torterra is slow as hell and has a double weakness to ice. It does have a nice balance of special/attack and special/defense, though, so unless it's like an Articuno attacking, an ice hit may not KO it. But through and through, the low speed stat hinders it immensely.

Sucker Punch? Physical. Poison Jab? Physical.

You didn't even know how to properly use Trick Room the first time. You used it twice in a row for some dumb reason.

If only by the way you state them, yes. Had you said something along the lines of "Maybe he knows how to counter Trick Room" you wouldn't have been a douchebag, but you had to talk like a tourneyfag.

I wasn't going to say it like that initially but it turned out to rhyme and still ring true so I had to.

But it has double the PP and the same chance of poisoning. And while Poison Jab maybe "losing potential", I can't see how you can accept Signal Beam (STAB + Status) being replaced by Sucker Punch (no STAB + catch to making it work) and not slightly reduced power for significantly higher PP.

I know how to use Trick Room, but it's just a pain (Firstly, Torterra can't learn it). I could use it during a Double Battle, but I like 1-on-1's better. If I were in a 1-on-1, I'd have to make another Pokemon use it, which would make me send out Torterra next turn, leaving two Pokemon open for free attacks. Plus, if the Pokemon I taught Trick Room to doesn't need it, it's a waste, because I'd only be using it for another Pokemon.

Because I lost to Sucker Punch this one time and have since treated it like it's the best move to exist.
