Abusing EVs?
And I only use pokemon I like. And I don't make them specific for one situation, because that would get me killed against the person I play against.

I feel like the only person that plays with Pokemon they like and adapts to fit the situation instead of abusing EVs, testing all statistics and having the most top notch team.

I don't do that, either! I have to like the appearance of the Pokemon before I'll even look into their stats and moves, and I love making Pokemon that can work in many situations. And I should probably note that I hate switching in battles, so if I want to still stand a chance, I have to make them adaptive!

I do "abuse" EVs. I know what you mean by that, and I don't feel like being annoying. But I don't test all statistics or have a top-notch team. When it comes to stat manipulation all I look out for are EVs and Natures (both are because I don't like points going into stats that I wont even be using). And my team is hardly top-notch. Most of those "hardcore" Pokemon players would say that my team sucks. But that COULD be because I say their Tyranitar sucks.

Hopfully, I'm not the only one here going to get the game, but I've already reserved the Pearl version.
So, which one well you buy?

Oh, ok. Sorry about that>_>

Anyway, I only picked the Peral version because the pokemon on the cover looks bad ass.

Hmm, lemme see...

Typhlosion
Jolteon
Umbreon
Salamence
Larvitar/Tyranitar
Dragonite

among others...

Like, Rhiannon, first I look at their appearance, then I get one of each type for the team (which lasts until the end of the game). Until the team isn't fully built, I just use fillers until it does.

My teams usually are:
  • Fire-type
  • Water-type
  • Electric-type
  • Psychic-type w/ Ghost and Dark moves or Dark w/ Psy, Ghost and Dark moves
  • Dragon-type
  • Last one varies, just to fill the last slot, usually a Steel or Rock-type
I like them fast or tough, preferaly both...
The main one is always 5 levels higher than the others, in case something bad happens (not likely).

[Edit:] The new pokemon look promising, though I didn't picture Lucario as a Fight/Steel type when I saw the movie...he looked Psychic to me.

I get a rather opposite impression from the channel whenever Pokemon comes up. Meh.

What defense do you have against the fact that like five billion Pokemon can learn Earthquake and most of your team is weak to ground?
