I'm not sure if this is supposed to go in general discussion or game help, since it's a little of both. Anyways, I'm just wondering what the general opinion on them is. SPOILERS AGAIN:
I'm sort of torn on whether they're worth using or not. It's nice to have them against witches/wizards, but it seems like they have more drawbacks than other classes (I have a heck of a time keeping them alive during unions). Are there enough magic-using enemies later in the game to justify trying to raise Cruz's/Elanor's stats? Or are there more maps where you have to use Elanor later on? Just curious.

Forget the weapons triangle. It means nothing. Hell, you have to ignore it just to get past BF10. Anyways, Cruz (Hunters in general) are good against Griffon Riders. There is a recurring Griffon Rider, and said Griffon Rider often comes in maps that are not fixed-time - meaning you can throw in the Hunter's affinity for noontime. Cruz's affinity for Forest terrain doesn't mean much. Elena (and Assassins in general) is good at Night, and they void Dark. They also happen to use Dark, and there is a mighty annoying recurring character weak to Dark, that likes to show up at night, and has a dangerous card having to do with the Head being the only one alive to which the Assassin has a counter card that kills the head. *breathes* All in all, there is no useless unit. Hell, even DURANT has his uses...

You just need to make sure to not lead a Union with them unless you really have to, and move them out of the Union afterwords.
Since they can't counter attack, rarely ever let the enemy have the chance to attack them. They are very good (Although I peronsally find Cruz useless, since I can just waste said Griffon Rider with everyone's favorite Princess) you just need to use more planning out beforehand.
And yeah. Bloody Claw is pretty awesome, lots of BFs later on in the game are either Evening or Night locked by the way, lessening Cruz's usefulness.

QUOTE since I can just waste said Griffon Rider with everyone's favorite Princess What paradox have you introduced in fighting Emilia with Emilia? QUOTE lots of BFs later on in the game are either Evening or Night locked by the way, lessening Cruz's usefulness. Reword that, please.

Well I just never used him. I didn't need the advantage against Griffon Riders since they weren't any threat to me at all... Nietzsche could beat them. Plus being good against Books isn't all that great » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « You only run into them twice. And the first you don't have him so only once!
So I believe you mean Rods. But eh.

I never really used Cruz much either, Elena on the other hand rocks! I like her darkness attribute, it becomes so useful in the latter half of the game. However this was something Cruz lacked, and being able to easily take out griffons is no big deal, who can't?! But who knows, maybe if I ever decide to use him I might find a use for him after all.

I also prefer Elena over Cruz.
I mean, the last BFs are fixed night, making it perfect for Elena. Elena has also much more LUCK than Cruz.
Frankly, I don't even uses Cruz after I got him.

Cruz is pretty good, in my first gameplay I tried to balance the character usage.
And Cruz gets high TEC, so he deals devastating Thunder Bolts(and other card skills) most of the times, if not all the time.
Elena has her moments too, Bloody Claw helps a lot when dealing with annoying "obstacles", and while she has that crossbow that increases Criticals, she's unstoppable.
Anyways, both Hunters and Assassins have the advantage of not being countered when starting a clash.
Though I thought that "advantage" wouldn't work when the clashes involved: Hunters vs Hunters, Assassins vs Assassins, Hunters vs Assassin (and vice-versa) I guess I was wrong...
