Basically, just use this topic to discuss the name origins for anything and everything in Yggdra Union. I HAVE NOTHING TO START THE TOPIC WITH SO I'LL JUST WIAT FOR SOMEONE TO START.

And because people (not necessarily the peope HERE) are stupid with spoilers and Yggdra Union, I'll remind people to mark for spoilers if they come up. Again. Yeah.

GOOO.

Why not mark the whole topic as spoilers?

Anyway: Yggdra Juril Altwaltz is derived from Yggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse mythology. Juril: I have no idea, but I'll be sure to make something up. I mean, do research. Altwaltz seems to come from Alto and Waltz, which together may mean high revolutions, or high dance.

Because I can only think of about three cases where the name is a spoiler.

La Pucelle=The Pucelle according to Free translator.....wow that's special. Well it would have been nice to know how that word was related

I think someone said somewhere that Pucelle means virgin, but I don't remember.

Aegina - A nymph thing in Greek mythology who lived on an island called... Aegina. And that place actually exists, by the way.
Astarte - It would probably be easier if I just linked to something informative.
Nessiah - His name is sooo based off of the genus Nessia... GOOO SKINKS.
Marduk - Marduk was a god who was in Canaanite mythology and some religion, I think. I may be remembering wrong. And he's probably in more than just those two things, but yeah.

La Pucelle is French. It seems most commonly for "virgin" but "young, unmarried girl" seems near as common, however, according to wikipedia, "La Pucelle" is also another name for Joan of Arc.

And Nessiah could be an offshoot of "Messiah," in a sort of sacrilegious way.

Mizer may come from 'Mizeros', a greek word that pretty much means petty or pathetic.

Don't be so certain.
Swap the 'z' with an 's' and you get "miser" which is a penny-pincher.
Then, what about how they translated it in Riviera? As Mizell?

Durant might come from "Durand", a last name derived from the latin word "Durandus" meaning, strong, willful and enduring (wikipedia is always a great stop for these kinds of questions)

IIRC, credits go to Feral Phoenix for Fiaa's icon and ChefMKT for the Lyuri scan.
