The item list for YU is way longer than in Riviera, and more than likely someone without a walkthrough won't complete the YU item list in their first two playthroughs seeing how there's so many tricky items in there. However in Riviera even the hardest items to obtain are still easier to get than half of the items in YU. In Riviera TP isn't a problem seeing how you have to fight almost everyone you meet resulting in a gain of TP, as well as a nice TP bonus at the end of each chapter. As for the items the enemies drop, they can all be obtained easily.

QUOTE The item list for YU is way longer than in Riviera, No, it's not. QUOTE However in Riviera even the hardest items to obtain are still easier to get than half of the items in YU. No, they're not. The average YU player will hoard, and that's all that's really necessary to get the items in YU. That and stepping in the right place. In Riviera, there are trading sequences, trading sequences that may can make the rest of the game harder. QUOTE YU item list in their first two playthroughs seeing how there's so many tricky items in there. The only tricky item is the Four Leaf Clover, and Riviera also has a Four Leaf Clover - one that's harder to get.

The items where you require a certain amount of total REP are probably easier to get, just don't lose some battles.
This is, of course, kind of hard (in the first few chapters) given the nature of the first few chapters, but there arn't any items that require a total REP there, are there?

QUOTE items where you need a total REP of a certain number can be difficult to get. No, because you only need to win a certain amount of times or lose a certain amount of times. QUOTE DARK MATTER!! I forgot to trade it away once and in one of the desert BFs every town I stepped on the citizens kept saying to "get that evil thing away from me" among other things like that. That's the Skull Stone, not the Dark Matter. QUOTE This is, of course, kind of hard (in the first few chapters) given the nature of the first few chapters, but there arn't any items that require a total REP there, are there? In the first few chapters? Of course there are. There're the ones in Verlaine, in the Marduk Forest, Lost Aries...

QUOTE(Sturm) No, it's not. I count about a hundred items more in code. QUOTE(Sturm) The ones with Reiche, Mursya, Soala, Chappi, and I think a few others. Key Item, Key Item, a wand, two swords and a rapier, and Key Item. QUOTE(Lord Ryo) Not to mention that STUPID DARK MATTER!! I forgot to trade it away once and in one of the desert BFs every town I stepped on the citizens kept saying to "get that evil thing away from me" among other things like that. Skull Stone.

QUOTE I count about a hundred items more in code. I'm counting 222 for Riviera, 256 for YU (All Duds item doesn't count.) QUOTE Key Item, Key Item, a wand, two swords and a rapier, and Key Item. Who do you trade the three bats to, then?

The three bats are key items. And you trade them to a fairy. QUOTE I'm counting 222 for Riviera, 256 for YU (All Duds item doesn't count.) Is that with or without key items?
