I've also started reading Innumeracy by John Allen Paulos. For when I don't have time for the big hulking chapters of Pynchon.

I'm working my way through Paradise Lost and some spy novels for my classes. Milton was fucking insane. The poem is written entirely in English, but to get the most out of it you have thoroughly know your Latin and Greek, classical literature, the Bible, Physics, Geography and Astronomy.

ALSO SAUCE, NOW, IF YOU LEARN A BIT OF FRENCH, YOU'LL CATCH A NOT-SO-SUBTLE REFERENCE IN MY SIG.

House of Leaves. I'm in the appendix now. Chapter XXI was really fun for me since I really like getting into Johnny's head through his footnotes that derail into sideplots.

The Hero With a Thousand Faces - Joseph Campbell.

Some guy in my bio lecture suggested it when I told him I was a lit major. It's slow going because I keep getting sidetracked by livejournal. And my tablet. And Photoshop. And all that fic I have to finish writing.

I've read Conrad's "The Secret Agent" and Ambler's "Epitaph for a Spy" this semester, I'm through book five of "Paradise Lost," and I'm still trying to get through "Gravity's Rainbow." So little time for so many books.
