Harry Potter as a whole is pretty meh. Rowling's writing style is atrocious and I can't bear to read it for more than ten minutes at a time.

Well, I finished Susan Fromberg Schaeffer's Wacky Vietnam Adventure, and I can honestly say that I have no idea what the ending was all about.

I'm rereading The Haunted after browsing and bumping into Guts again.
3rd one is pretty memorable. "the narrator describes an incident in which he sat on the water intake at the bottom of a swimming pool while masturbating. The suction caused his rectum and lower intestines to prolapse and become tangled in the filter, forcing the narrator to gnaw through his own innards in order to free himself and avoid drowning. The narrator's sister later becomes impregnated by semen deposited by the narrator in the pool, which results in her having an abortion. Because I'm working on Dum Spiro Spero and that's heavily magic-centric, I decided to "find" Roswell and Nessiah's characters by looking at similar magic-addicted mages. And dug out my Dragonlance books, starting with The Soulforge, to read some Raistlin for reference.
...and, dear God, he's invaded my brain and won't leave me alone. Now switched over to Stephenie Meyer's Twilight trilogy in hopes of getting overly snarky lich-infested mages unstuck from my consciousness. ~~~  Gentle winds of hope can stir even the most desolate of hearts... |

Main character continues his fight against the 'Gods.' Meanwhile, the gods fight amongst themselves and about half of them are killed in the unsuing fight. (Hera is blasted into smithereens by Zeus, her scorched body parts literally fall out of the sky; Thetis is shot through the heart; Posieden is thrown into Tartarus by Zeus; Apollo gets a lobotomy via spearhit). All three points of the previous stories come together (androids, post humans and humans of Mars). Zeus gets killed by Achilles; (Since Achilles can only die to exact circumstances, he is invicible otherwise) Achilles Impales Zeus on Odysseus' Bed- post, decapitates him, and feeds his still-living intestines to Odysseus' Dog. Great stuff eh? -Dusty oh and I laughed when I read about Rastlin, He's a funny character (albeit completely obssessed with his magic...). Palahniuk has a way with words to sort of get the visceral across (perhaps literally, sometimes), but I never could bring myself to finish The Haunted. I think I stopped trying to read it shortly after Lady Bag Lady commits suicide. Although Guts' commentary on where people's college money goes instead of college is somewhat entertaining. What am I actually reading right now? I should have finished Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad already, but I haven't. And watching Apocalypse Now for the group English project about Heart of Darkness has done little to improve my reluctance to finish it. |

I NEED books! They're a great way to escape the crappiness of reality. The Deathly Hallows put me off Harry Potter entirely...she killed off practically the entire cast, and left half of the annoying characters alive...although I was glad to see Colin Creevey turn up in the body count. Hedwig was unneccessary, though. And, as for the ending...well, even I could write a better ending than that, and my fanfiction isn't worth mentioning. "Albus Severus" indeed... At the moment, I'm re-reading Rise of a Merchant Prince, part two of Raymond E. Feist's Serpentwar Saga.
