How about a currency system? Like, every post you get 5 of the currency or something, and later on, when there are more features, some could require x amount of the currency to be able to use. Also, a weekly lottery would be pretty cool for this idea too. It would encourage more activity, and make people earn the extra privledges that'll come by later on. Also, a reward system would be nice too. (Someone can report a message for reward, much like reporting a rule-breaking post) and whichever Moderator or admin gets it, can choose to reward it or not, and award x amount of the currency.

That could be interesting. I know there are already hacks for IPB shops, so I'll look into it. ~~~ I play Riviera for two reasons:
  IIRC, credits go to Feral Phoenix for Fiaa's icon and ChefMKT for the Lyuri scan. |

It's possible, but doing it for all topics would be an unnecessary load on the server. I've been considering it for news threads though.

Gold caused a lot of spam in one forum I frequent to. It probably wouldn't happen here since it's a pretty small community, but I still don't like the idea of of a forum currency...

Well, instead of getting currency for posting, it could just be given out via reward. Only quality, insightful, intelligent and etc will be elligible for reward though.
