There are a lot of things that are very similar in Riviera and Yggdra Union. I can't say if any of them confirm a link between them or not. But don't get your hopes up; they're mostly just names.
Shared Equipment/Items- Ogre Blade
- Fanelia
- Crystal Lance
- Powershroom
- Magic Mirror (Needs confirmation because I can't read.)
- Mage Ring
- Mint
- Burning Sun
- Banango
- Southern Cross
- Upola Statue
- Ice Javelin
- Silver Moon
- Applecot (Japanese versions only)
- Ribbon ("Kirakira ribbon" in Japanese versions. "Kirakira" supposedly means glitter.)
Shared Skill-Item Names- Nessiah's Etherion item - Etherion enemy attack.
- Gulcasa's Prominence item. - Cierra's Prominence attack.
- Stardust item - Lina's Stardust attack.
- Dragon Killer card - Dragon Killer item.
Shared Skill-Card Names- Necro Gate card - Necro Gate attack.
- Angelic Thunder card - Angelic Thunder attack.
- Sanctuary card - Sanctuary attack.
- Blizzard card - Blizzard attack.
- Shield Barrier card - Shield Barrier attack.
- Earthquake card - Earthquake attack.
- Poison Breath card - Poison Breath attack.
Other Relations- When using the Saint Scepter, Cierra and Fia mention Ancardia, which is a location in Yggdra Union.
- The character Gill, and the card Dragon Killer, which has the words of "Gill the Dragon Slayer".
- Appearance of Nessiah and Hector.
- Appearance of Bandits and Barbarians.
- Both games have bath scenes.
- The character Mizer and 4-7 in Riviera, Mizel Bridge are written the same way. (Japanese only)
- There is a place called Heaven's Gate in both games.
- Undines.
- Golems.
- Appearance of Skeletons and Undead.
- The Fairies of Riviera are pictured in the card art for Refreshment.
- Cierra's staff is pictured in the card art for Flame.
- Kylier's name is spelt the same way as "Kirie" in the Book of Kirie (Japanese).
- Appearance of Marietta and Archangel. Marietta's class name is also Archangel.
- The card skill Angelic Thunder has feathers floating down at the end which are reminiscent of Lost Seraph and Disaresta. Angelic Thunder's appearance is also very similar to the Archangel's max attack in Riviera, and they share the same name.
- In one of the endings, Ragnarok begins. However, it is likely not the same Ragnarok that exists within Riviera's story, due to certain plot points.
- In a long item-trading quest, you will end up with either Mjollnir or Mjollnil. Their descriptions state that they are a replica of a Diviner and a failed replica of a Diviner, respectively.
That's what I have so far. If you notice anything not here, feel free to post them.
