The backlight of my HP laptop keeps turning off whenever I tilt/move the monitor to a certain angle (from about 80 degrees to 110 degrees) and it's getting really annoying.

Has anyone ever had this problem before or know what I can do to fix it? I tried contacting HP Customer service and they told me to do a hard reset and update the BIOs which I did and it's not fixing the problem.

So any help would be appreciated.

That's what they say when they don't have any idea, I think.

How old is your computer? Did you drop it or something? It might be a mechanical issue (i.e. something got ripped). Is there anything to make you think that your computer knows what angle the screen is turned?

I've had it for 2 years, never really dropped it, but it's bumped into a couple of things.

I think one of the hinges is kind loose, that might be the problem.

I had this problem a few years ago with my old laptop. I got a local PC store to fix it for $75 while gateway was asking for $150.
