What do you think of the series? I think the games are fun, but sometimes I think that Hideo Kojima just goes so far out there that I think he's lost his mind. As long as he makes good games, I could care less what kindof hair-brained stories he comes up with.


I just picked up Snake Eater today. (Don't care about multiplayer modes and crap in subsistance)
The food thing is annoying, but everything else is pretty enjoyable.

I've been a long-time MG fan, all the way back from Metal Gear on the NES. (I've also played Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on the MSX, not to be confused for SNAKES REVENGE, to which my shameful parents got me for christmas back in the day).

Thoughts?

Hideo should make movies instead of games.
I've always hated how clunky the controls and gameplay are, but the stories are pretty awesome (and the only reason I keep buying the games).

I agree. The controls can be a pain at times, but the music, FMVs and Story are all top notch.

Is there anyone else here who absoloutely hated playing as Raiden/Jack in 2? I'd've much preffered Snake, even though he did get a Mullet in that game. xD

Movement in general felt.... weird somehow. You seemed to be gliding instead of running/walking.
Then the way you switch items and weapons, and how you use them. I would often forget that I had cigarrettes equipped, until I got into a firefight and realized my health was next to zero.

And I always blew myself up when trying to use grenades...

You DO need to get used to them. I don't know how many times I tried to snap a guard's neck, only to watch in horror as he's simply thrown....


And it only takes a second for TS guards to call for backup ;_;

I never got that far. I don't know if it was being Raiden or the Shell, but I couldn't stand it. I've rolled a few guards instead of killing them, so I said screw it, and ran through a door and hid in a nearby locker.
