I think it's 32, anyway... The one where you have to defeat the rival Pope and then defend against Gulcasa while the Pope and Yggdra refuse to get their asses in gear and move more than I square a turn.

I can get past the first bit easy enough - Using Durant's road affinity w/ headgear equipped and Milanor's godly stats (4 GEN, 6ATK, 4 TEC, 6 LUK) I can take down the Pope without fear of petrification (Mardym falls so easily he doesn't bare mention... I mean, skeletons during perpetual day?). The hard part is when Gulcasa shows up.

I haven't even bothered trying to save Gordon yet, he buys me a precious few turns to get into position, but Gulcasa's damn HIGH status crushes me every time.

Oh, and about Aegina... I thought she lost an eye... kindly don't spoil that plot point for me.

To clarify, who should I bring onto the field, and how do I make 32-2 less painful overall? I have both Russell and Cruz, for the record, and picked Roswell earlier.

Bringing Nietzsche will be a good idea, because of the water tiles. You could use her to help hold off Gulcasa and Aegina. She's especially good at it if you have an item that gives the Void Fire effect.

I thought of that, except she's slightly underleveled (8 as opposed to an average of 10-12) and although I have the cardinal cloak she's still got a BF left in her gurgnir... I also though of destroying the bridge by equipping Milanor with that hammer I stole from Dort, but then I'd probably drown him (I'm not sure how the hammer works anyway). At the moment it looks like I'll be abusing the bottleneck near where you start 32-2.

Any additional ideas are still very welcome, and thankyou Rhiannon.

You shouldn't worry about people being underleveled unless they're REALLY low. Like, level 4 when most of your characters are level 10 or higher. Nietzsche should be okay, level-wise. And since she has Gungnir, just try and use something that benefits from its effect. Shield Barrier and Fortune come to mind. That only gives you four turns, assuming it works well enough, but it's certainly better than nothing! ... But then again, I don't know how much your other characters are helping. I do think you should give her a try, though.

And don't try to destroy the bridge. The only thing you could accomplish by doing that is trapping Aegina. Dragons can walk over water, and stuff, so yeah.

Do you have any items that give the 1-on-1 = win effect? If you do, they'll work nicely as long as you can manage to get Gulcasa down to one member. It might also help to equip something that raises an element's power, and bring along the elemental damage card that corresponds to that element. Fatal Damage is fun.

This is really all I can think of. I'm sorry if it isn't enough.

Dragons can walk on water? Wow... that's news. Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm aware of 1-on-1 = win (It's how I beat him the first time) but IIRC I only have one - the Jack Hand Zilva drops on the previous map, and Elena still has a map left in her meteor.

And for the record... does petrification EVER wear off, or do you have to finish the battlefield?

Um, I'm on this BF right now, and at the section where Gulcasa comes to kill everyone. Well, I moved Gordon one space up, above that bridge space, and Gulcasa's group didn't attack the entire time the Pope was escaping. Try that if you're out of ideas, maybe it's reoccurring.

Yes, that does seem to be a recurring exploit of the AI - it seems hesitant about breaking formation. I managed to get past the next bit by stealing his equipment so his stats were actually human, and then parking my overlevelled Durant on the bridge with Nietzsche backing him up to take care of the tagalongs. I even managed to keep Gordon alive that time!

Thanks to both of you.
