I shall hide a secret that only one knows.
A light so faint within me it barely glows
Like a candle of softest scent that tickles my nose
Only fond memories of the summertime,
of the bright skies in my eyes and sand between my toes.
Or perhaps the tune of Auld Lang Syne
Something comforting that brings me peace of mind.

There once was a man from Nantucket
He killed himself

this small one, i dont even know if it rhymes, is a song from my story.

the heroine Annalot sings it while taking a bath, its small and goes like this

QUOTE

...while she had her bath, she was singing a small song. a old song her mother used to sing her when bathing.
it went like:

i wash away
the dirt of the day
i wash away
and let it astray
the dirt i today
i took in my way
tonight i wash it away.

In this sleepy hour, is the feeling familiar?
I've no power, simply living beneath the sheets
Closing my eyes to shut the dimming lights,
Whose soft touch readies us for nights, and greets
Those who travel the lonely roads, despite callous crowd
A forever 2 AM melancholy, lived by vagabond brothers
An eternal morning funeral for the lives we never lived
The memories left to sustain are those of midnight lovers

Such a sad reality we've built for ourselves
Bound in weakness by these sheets, and warmth
Shielding myself from the amber glow of city nights
These pillows will deafen the noise and cushion us from pain
Maybe dreamers dream together, whether asleep or awake
Living for the hour always at 6 PM, families of strangers
Drinking in the liquid gold, and eating the atmosphere of light
I'm not sure we'll ever be saved from our plight

Silver fruit in the sky;
hanging amidst star branches
the moon sheds pale light.
