We were playing Risk together here today. Most INCREDIBLE match ever. Alaska held out multiple times for over 10 army attacks, and Brazil stood up to 17. Siam managed 12.

FIRST GAME LOG. TL;DR I WON.

I TOOK SOME PICTURES.
The aftermath of what Sauce has named "Nibelung Venezuelesti"
The reason you don't let Rhia sit with her cattle for long (oh also Alaska)
KING GREENLAND

Epic battle. And the ad that I found the site with is so right. "The dice are not your friends."

Mass Carriers for instant win is not epic. It's just a LOLARMYPENISISBIGGERTHANYOURSIWIN until someone runs out of seamen. Then the other person licks it all up.

Walrus cheats. He just defended his North Africa which had four armies against my Western Europe which had 11.

My first game! Going four-on-one on Asaph was exciting! Also Rhia wasting a whole three troops on neutrals to “prove a point” when she could have eliminated me either in north or in south America, hur hur.

I am intrigued by the Austro-Hungarian Empire map. Rai, Asaph, and me tried to make sense of the cryptic explanations, until Rai found the solution: besides the main map, the small panel at a top-left corner presents an extension of it, hosting the two thrones of the empire, and finally “The Dual Monarchy”.
A major element of this map is the battle for these two thrones: to claim either the Austrian or Hungarian throne, you must attack from the realms' respective capitals: Vienna and Budapest. From there you can move your troops onto the thrones, which grant a +1 reinforcement bonus for any two territories held within the respective realm. You win if you manage to hold both thrones for one round.
In addition there is “The Dual Monarchy”. This territory can only be attacked from either throne. It hosts two neutral units which will respawn every turn, and which will continuously attack (or whatever “bombard” means) the two thrones, necessitating a strong defence if you want to hold your throne(s).

The Celtic Nations map lacks such gimmicks, but seems of good quality. The art is concise and easy on the eyes, while the territories seem sensibly distributed. There is the Celtic Sea linking many of them, just like the Japan Sea on the Japan map, and it even simulates attrition by draining one unit from the army stationed there every turn. The setting I find appealing too, but even without it I would say it deserves a try.

Lastly, the Netherlands map looks well-designed too, though Asaph correctly noted how there are a handful of provinces safely stowed away in corners of the map, so it could lead to the players stubbornly entrenching themselves.

Were the choice to fall on Japan though, I would not be one to complain. I only watched you play on it, but with its diverse mixture of strategic choke points and far-reaching sea routes, it seemed very engaging.

THE RANDOM NUMBER GODDESS

WHO HAS NEVER WON ANY MATCHUP SINCE THE FIRST MATCH THIS YEAR (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DESTROYING ALL OF ASAPH'S AND WALRUS'S BONUSES IN THOSE TWO MATCHES)

And Oki-Shoto is the only reason I lost last time. You know it's true.
