This game has codes? Is it though Gameshark, are is it an in-game code?

I have bad nightmares about Gameshark, I lost my hard earned and fully completed Pokemon Gold data using game shark. After I completed it I borrowed it from a friend and was having some unnatural with the glitches and after I gave it gace to him, I realized my data was lost! Still to this day I've never played it again... *sniff...* ~~~ "Wheels within wheels..."

That cursed Gameshark scwered over every Pokemon game I tryed it on. I think I'll restart a new file and obtain the torch.
