You know how your hard drive is divided into partitions (usually a main one for your OS and then another one for other crap)? Is it possible to undo a partition, and if so, how would one go about do so?

Technically. I don't know how it's done without an extra HD/Partition to temporarily store the data of the partition you're getting rid of and/or the one you're combining it with... But, anyways, I assume you wish to get rid of a partition? To just clear it or to combine it with another? Or something else?
Also, what OS, because that will have an effect on how you do it. |

I wish to combine it to another, and I'm using Windows XP.
And the partition I want to use to combine into another one has nothing on it. Literally. Its 54 Gigs of nothing. I've never had a need for it, so I want to put it to some use and combine it with a partition that's in need of some space. Having literally nothing on it changes very little.
Anyways, this is Windows, so it's far beyond my limited window of expertise. Search for some XP partitioning software, and make sure to back up ALL data. Although, I wouldn't risk it if you have your important system files on either of the partitions. ~~~ To be: The Guy-Play I Wanna Be The Guy, still awake-drink coffee, happy-party up, seen-stand up, heard-speak up, respected-shut up.

You could always use a rescue disk/live CD and do the partitioning on that. This way you won't have the partition you are using mounted and it will probbably work. You should still back up though.
I don't know much about MS-DOS disks, but google up 'Knoppix' and you can boot up with that and partition it from Linux. However it might be confusing if you aren't familiar with Linux. |

You can do it. PartionMagic software.
Link I think the merge/divide functionality is what you're looking for. To the best of my knowledge there is free software that will let you clone your drive, but I don't think there is one that has the split/merge functionality you are looking for. Best of luck. ~~~  |
