QUOTE(Archeia @ Mar 9 2009, 09:06 PM) Well Einherjar means hero, lorelei is a siren and just look at the song lorelei, and skadi is well you know.
Einherjar are fallen heroic soldiers who were chosen by the Valkyries to join Odin's army, to eventually battle in Ragnarok. Loreley/Lorelei is a rock bit further up the Rhine from here. There's a lot of dangerous rapids and whirlpools at its feet, which often caused boats to sink and people to drown in older times. Thus, a legend was born that on top if it, the siren Loreley resided, enthralling men with her beautiful singing so they'd crash and sink. Eventually the monk Saint Goar, a missionary from Aquitaine, banned her from the rock and she was never seen again. Lastly, Skadi, the daughter of the giant Thiazi who was killed by the Æsir, went to Asgard to demand a husband (who she'd choose solely by looking at his feet) and to have someone make her laugh to make up for the murder of her father. Both wishes were granted, Loki made her laugh involving his testicles and a goat's beard, and as a husband she chose Njörðr's feet. However he liked living at the ocean whereas Skadi preferred the mountains, so they kept moving between their two locations every 9 days until they got bored of it and just parted, with everyone staying at their respective homes. QUOTE(Hayate @ Mar 5 2009, 04:42 AM) I tried to save a slot for something useless in my inventory at all times precisely for Lina's ridiculously stupid food skills. That lasted for like five minutes. XP
I hate the timing sequences--the ones with the bar and the little white spot that you have to make the arrow stop in. I can never do those except maybe once in a blue moon. There was this one part in the ruins where you can either have Serene or Lina get an applecot in a tree and because I am a bloody perfectionist was trying to get Lina's ending, I tried having her shoot it down. GRAGH.
Also the chests with roulettes ticked me off because I'd see an item I could skill up with in there, and I'd never get it and have to reload like fifty times--only to suck at the rest of the level or something else stupid.
Isher is a royal freaking pain in the arse.
True; one time it took me five tries to get the Magical Icicle and the Blue Stinger at the Hell's Gate. If I missed, I had to repeat at the start of that area, battle a demon team consisting of a Dragon and two annoying Beetles, then try chopping the icicle and get the Blue Stinger. Ugh. And Isher's one of my issues, too, since his Break Out skill--Fallen Crest--is both unblockable and unavoidable! So unfair! How come none of the playable characters have Over Skills that are both unblockable and unavoidable? And screw him for his high Guard rate! At one time, it took me four tries to get an 'S' for beating his ass! QUOTE(Sigmund @ Mar 4 2009, 10:07 PM) That god damn rock skipping thing. Took me like 5 tries.
I was like'
" WELL! AFTER ABOUT 30 SKIPS, THIS MUST BE OVER. WAIT! WHAT! MORE! ERG ZFB ZH Z Z ZZW T G!!!11"
Good thing I was able to accomplish this without retrying. That is, only to find out, that all it does is knock the living daylights out of some freaking Undead at a ridiculously long distance. My first thought was, "How in the world did that become possible?". But then again, accomplishing this gives three scores--all recorded in one turn! Bothering part is the Ankh. I died like a gazillion times in a row.
Cierra's training isn't much of a fuss to me. Look, All melee weapons for her are at Over Skill 1 right? It should be no sweat practicing her.
Only the orbs are my biggest worries. Hell, I still winded up a Fire Emblem. Which, the Blazing Rose (Lvl 3. maybe.) Is a cameo move. But, the notion says that Cierra CAN use the entire orbs, crest and emblems. See?
Inventory was useful to me. Only those without the Exp is the one that I was discarding. Others like Potions, Elixirs are safely kept. Substitution are Bread, Applecot, Bandagos, Steak etc. are still kept except Fia's vegetarian habit is making a fuss. So, only Bread, Applecot and Bandagos are to kept as the substitutions.
Well, the time I had a Burning Sun and Black Scythe were eating two spaces for Serene's use. I had to discard and NOT to use Serene in the entire Encounters. Fool and Sage are also counted. At Archangel, I'm relieved to thrash the darn Burning Sun.

1. Anything that had to do with writing hints down on paper (the Four Seasons Forest and the Ankh puzzle). Yes, I'm that horrible when it comes to puzzles. QUOTE(Hayate @ Mar 4 2009, 01:42 PM) Isher is a royal freaking pain in the arse.
2. For some bosses (particularly the Fool [that I pity], Ledah, and Isher): Trying to score that Lv3 Final Blow, only to see that I get the wrong character's turn, ends up effed up (because of guard/miss), or fall short of what I hoped. Heck, even with relatively high stats. That's pretty much what would have made all the difference in the fight. QUOTE(Seth-Rah @ Mar 3 2009, 05:37 PM) QUOTE(Rhiannon @ Mar 3 2009, 04:32 PM) I agree! Plus, Ecthel sounds silly and Excel fits with Excellion.
rofl "Einherjar" is about the silliest name for a sword ever. I know a lot of this is probably based on Norse mythology (or so my friend claims-- Norse mythos does tend to get a lot of attention in games these days, though thankfully some like Riviera are MUCH better than Norse games like Too Human.) I see what you mean. Ever read/watched The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King? Kinda of a name-related coincidence/typo that I noticed. "Denethor, son of Ecthelion", yes, sounds awfully familiar...
