QUOTE(Yuka @ Aug 22 2008, 10:26 PM) *

People who buy game consoles to play media that are not games are stupid.
CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENT! [insert Excel Saga pic]

Explain. Buying a box that can do more than one thing is smart. It means less boxes in your home entertainment setup. It also means less boxes to buy.

CC actually got what I was saying, surprisingly, and yet no one else did.

I'm saying if you're going to buy a PS3/Xbax purely to play DVDs on it, for instance (or Blu-Ray in the case of the PEE ESS TRIPLE), you might as well just buy a DVD/Blu-Ray player.

Correct me if I'm wrong on the Blu-Ray player part.

I'll put my cents in I guess.

360: MUCH larger and enjoyable library so far. So what if the online isn't free? I was online for CoD4 on the Ps3 once, only 3,063 were even on :/

Ps3: The only reason I was getting this to begin with was for FFXIII...

>:l

The PS3 is the best blue ray player on the market though =\

In a way it's also the best considering a large number of Blu-ray players can't download firmware updates when they decide to change the encryption scheme of Blu-ray discs - something they have already done - thus leaving them to be $1000 paperweights. Well, I guess they can still play CDs and DVDs, but you wouldn't have to pay that much anywhere, these days.

Is there any point in Blu-Ray films if you don't have an HD TV?

Yes, there is. They're not just bigger so they can store HD video and 7.1 surround sound, they also usually contain more content on fewer discs.

There isn't enough content you could throw on a blu ray disc to justify the extra space for a movie you're buying that couldn't have been put on a DVD as well. Films are not that big.

Even in terms of gaming, blu ray spins so bloody slowly that they have to throw the same data on the disc multiple times to make up for the read speed.

Just because it COULD have been put on a normal DVD doesn't mean it will be. Plenty of Blu-ray movies are being advertised as having extras not available for viewing in the normal DVD release.

Lets look at it in terms of games.

PS3 has: Uncharted, Lair (ugh), Warhawk (Okay, but BF: Bad Company is soo much better), Ratchet and Clank (Exactly like the others), Flow (Download it on the pc, for free) , Home (I've been trying to get in the fucking beta since before time, but it's still not out, and I'm still not in the goddamn beta), and Metal gear solid 4

MGS4 is the only must have exclusive title in the entire library of ps3 exclusives that I have that's good. Forget Disgaea 3.

Then you have the 360. Gears 1 and 2, Lost Planet: Colonies, Braid, Mass Effect, Halo 3 (Okay..), Oblivion GOTY (It includes the Shivering Isles, a one-up over the PS3 version for only 30 dollars), Dead rising, Ikaruga, MARATHON DURANDAL (GO buy it now) castle crashers, Lost Odyssey (Love it or hate it, it's still better then the RPG drought on the PS3) And Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

360>PS3.

Oh and Sturm, you should consider getting more achievements in Gears. The hardcore ones aren't even that hard...

I haven't played Gears since I beat it.
And you ignored some really awesome games for 360, like Blue Dragon, Senko no Ronde, Eternal Sonata and Braid.
Lost Odyssey kind sucks after Disc 2. :/
And doesn't PS3 have Little Big planet?
