Does anyone else play this?

It's actually quite good.

I play it.

I try to tell people that but they never get the appeal for some reason.

I didn't like Grindanogi really. I always would hit level 16 and then I'd never get past it because of the way the game is structured. :|

Yeah, same here. Actually, the game is hard to advance in period, especially money-wise. But that's what makes it fun, right?

No. It isn't. I spent god knows how many years doing that in Ragnarok, but atleast that had gameplay paired with a certain charm that appealed to me. Ragnarok's been an experience that no other MMO has been able to recreate for me, and I don't really enjoy MMOs now where I have to slave myself to them just to gain that one level.

Hrm, I'm not sure I'd call it slaving... but it can be difficult. Frankly, I'm surprised I've had so much patience with it. Not only that, but it seems to be missing some "classic" MMO necessities, but it still can be fun.

Suzu, how far are you? I am only at like level 13. (And for some reason, my age went up to 18.... O_o)

Wait. Wait. Wait.

Mabinogi = Grindanogi

Ragnarok = Not much worse grinding?

I mean even with a GM spawning a room full of monsters to AoE kill it still took a few days and a vastly boosted EXP rate to get any levels... If Mabinogi is too grindy to someone I shudder to imagine how you treat any other MMOs. People have hit level 50 in 23 hours in Mabinogi.

Uhhhhh... Probably not even level 10 currently due to being lazy but I think my total level is 200+ or something.

Eh. What pisses me off is how hard the game can be sometimes. I beat the first dungeon (the one with the giant red spider) with ease. Then I went to the dungeon with the goblins, and I was slaughtered. But that's the second dungeon! Ugh. Well, then I went back to the giant red spider dungeon for some training and I was killed nearly instantly by one of the red spiderlings. WTF?

Not only that, but cool things like pets or faces cost an assload of money, which is hard to get a lot of. I mean, this game is fun, but it can be really hard and unfair, too.

I didn't say that Ragnarok was any better on the grinding aspect, I just said that atleast Ragnarok had a certain charm to it that kept me playing for five years.

I'm pretty sure that Ragnarok is a bit less grindy anyways.

Likely the dungeon you were talking about is either the one you have a quest for, which is easier then normal. Or Beginner level... Did you drop a Beginner pass? If you didn't you'll do Normal. Which is uh. A lot harder.

Really the thing about Mabinogi is level is highly irrelevent. A fresh character can do anything with the basic combat skills (counter, windmill, and ice/fire/lightningbolt) even solo endgame stuff. You just need to be really good. Not character skill but actual skill.

Plus no lag. A second of lag will kill you. Especially in endgame stuff where stuff does in upwards of like 200-300 damage a hit.

Mabinogi seemed interesting to me. Until I heard that you're only allowed to have one character unless you spend real money, and that character ages and will die, and it costs money to play as them again after that.
