This has been on my mind for ages. I was wondering if the other six episodes (wait, maybe at least four because we've heard news about two of them so far) should be on handheld systems. (As RTPL and YU were on a GBA/PSP, and KiTN was on a DS, that kind of made the reason for me to ask.)

I had a thought in my mind: "Dept. Heaven: Possibly the best RPG series in your pocket." (Yes, I know that sounds stupid. If you want to rephrase that, be my guest.)

So, uh, whaddya think? Just answer yes or no, and uh, post why. *nervous laugh*

Edit: Fixed the last line. Looks like I didn't enter the poll content right. And I guess it's not free to put in after this got posted.

Pokemon is one of these. Until it wasn't. But every main entry is.

Final Fantasy is an exclusively NON-handheld one of these (for every main entry anyway).

I hope they do stick with handhelds for Dept. Heaven because development cost there is lower which in turn means they will be able to make money and continue the series.

Hence why FF1 - 6 have all ended up on handhelds, right?

It'd be nice if this series did stay on handhelds, just to have some consistancy.

Although remakes showing up on home consoles wouldn't exactly be shameful either.

Ports and remakes count?

Yes. Especially when certain versions only made it to certain regions on handheld - for example FF3.

Considering that DHE 3 is supposed to be a PC MMORPG, this is unlikely, though not impossible since PSP and DS are online capable.

I'd really prefer it to be handheld-only, since I'm usually without time to play on a console, and with significant amounts when I'm not anywhere near one.

The Final Fantasy main series is definitely not exclusive to only consoles, and (the) Pokemon (main series) remained portable to make trading and battling convenient... although even with online, I STILL can't find anyone to play against regularly.

I don't know about PSP, but I know for a fact the DS is not capable of supporting an MMO. Wii MAYBE.

I personally would like it to stay handheld, mostly because I love sprites.

PSP is capable. See the PSP Monster Hunters.

When someone says, "I know for a fact", they're usually lying, or at least hiding something.

I think he's referring to the friend code system Nintendo products have.

That doesn't stop people from playing with random people - most Nintendo games still have random match/race/whatever options where no friend code is needed. Really, the only way friend codes restrict is in Nintendo's use of them, where they cannot be exchanged (for example) after one of said random matches.
I guess also the fact that they're really fucking long and there's a new one for each game.
