FINALLY finished Catcher in the Rye. Flkghf. I hate this book. Like. I HATE this book. The only parts that mildly amused me were the bellboy pimp and that part where Holden was describing that French lady, or something. FRANSH LADY. Anyways. I didn't like this book. Although (as far as school books go) I'd say it wasn't as bad as Mary Reilly. Which read like a bad fanfiction in book form. Ok. It WAS a bad fanfiction in book form. The only book I hated more than Mary Reilly was A Seperate Peace. But only because A Seperate Peace dragged onnnn and onnnnnnn. It was well written, yes. But I found myself dozing off in the middle of a few of the chapters.

Anyways. Enough complaining. I'm also reading Dante's Equation by Jane Jenson. I like it so far. Some of the chapters are mildly boring, but a few of the characters amuse me to no end.

I liked ASP... Of course, back when I actually read it, I didn't really care one way or the other, but, looking back on it...I really do like it. I really want to read The Brothers K, but I ran out of time during the school year. Oh well, i'll just have to add it to my summer list~

It wasn't horrible. It was very well written, I'll give you that. But we seriously analyzed it to death. I think spending 2 classes analyzing four pages is pretty much my limit. We. Spent. Two. Weeks. On SIX PAGES. I absolutely hated the book after that. It's like Robert Frost poems. Very pretty, very well written. But something that tends to get the life analyzed out of it (Death! I took a two month long poetry elective. We spent one and a half months analyzing three of his poems. Ugh.)

And the first few chapters seemed to drag on endlessly. It was much better towards the end.

Sometimes, teachers do that. We spent an eternity on Emily Dickinson. Her poems are okay and all, but I can't stand going through them for over 1.5 weeks >>

Just got out some new stuff. Mmm. ^_^

"Goddess of the Rose" by P.C. Cast was really adorable. Gave me lots of inspiration for my YU OTP, yus. Feminists and romance/fantasy fans will like that.

"Scar Night" by Alan Campbell was FAWESOME. *_* I really can't believe it's his first novel. And this from one of the guys who worked on Grand Theft Auto!! It is sooo coool. You must read it. If only because one of the main characters (Carnival) is sort of like...

Like...

Hmm.

Carnival = Malice + Nessiah + steroids

AWESOME BOOK.

I'm reading The Chrysalids by John Wyndham for English. It's okay, but nothing to write home about.

I desperately need to get to the library to find something to read for fun. >_>;

I finished Dune, and I liked it a lot, so I bought Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.

But instead of reading those, I'm reading House of Leaves. I think it's neat. Well, except for the references to nonexistant books. I keep forgetting that they don't exist so I waste time trying to look up information about them.

I finally finished Lawrence Durrell's Justine and am thoroughly depressed, don't know what I'm going to read next; the next book in the series (Balthazar), Pouliuli, or one of the many other books I intended to read when I purchased them but will likely never get to.

Anyways, a little info on how the book is written if anyone decides to read it, taken as a direct quote from one of the characters in the book: "Things do not all lead forward to other things: some lead backwards to things which have passed. A marriage of past and present with the flying multiplicity of the future racing towards one." (Pursewarden)

Looks interesting, Sturm. Maybe I'll look for it at the library next time I go.

Currently reading The Glass Menagerie (Tennessee Williams). Gaaaads. I haven't read enough of this book(/play) to really say what I think. Currently? I don't really like it much. It's... odd. But maybe later on.... :\

Maybe you can finish it in a quicker time than the eight months it took me. X/

I decided I'd read Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita next; a little comedy before I continue with the Alexandrian Quartet (the series Justine belongs to). Before you accuse me of trying to appear smarter than I am by reading complex, obscure books, I discovered this book through a song by The Lawrence Arms, so, yeah. Anyways, it is quite comical; the devil is very interestingly portrayed, so are the events of Jesus' life, though I have no idea how this is all going to tie together...

I started it a bit ago, but then never got a chance to finish it.

Also, recently, I've really wanted to read more Shakespeare~
