Which is why it's stupid for entrants to not be able to vote for their own. If no entrant is going to vote if they can't vote for their own, that implies everyone will vote for their own. It works like this, people.
Sure, there are plenty of iconmakers who would just want to vote for their own icon and increase their chances of winning. BUT, there are other people at this forum who feel as though they want to be fair, and vote for icons that THEY like best, which might not necessarily be their own. And so, allowing iconmakers to vote for their own icons will actually detract from the success of those users, who probably deserve the award more anyway because they aren't as selfish as the average bear. So, whine all you want, but iconmakers will never in the foreseeable future be able to vote for their own work. Most other online Icontests have the same rule, so it's not like I'm being cruel and unusual here. Anyway, the results are in, so I'm closing this topic. ~~~ |

It's very unlikely any entrant would vote AGAINST themselves, however, no matter the quality of the other icons. It's not about fairness, it's about common sense.
That's why you allow entrants to vote for ONE, not TWO or THREE like non-entrants can. ONE that is not their own. But if you make them vote for two, then you make them skew the votes far out of their own favour.
You're the one that makes icons out to be a life or death situation. And no, just because they're stupider when it comes to probability doesn't mean they deserver to win the contest.
