.. <_< I want an option to get Ledah back. It would have been nice, since I don't like the direction the game goes after Chapter 6. Seems too rushed and messy. Unfullfiling in the end, as well.

And during chapter 3, 4 and 5 there´s nearly no story at all.

Wrong.
In chapter three you receive Cierra, chapter four has Ein and Ledah meeting, chapter five you defeat the last accursed, so obviously things happen.

They mean more plot than that. All the little scenes of relationship development with the girls are cute, but you have to admit that Riviera has a pretty bare-bones plot.

I could easily find a way to extend the game to eleven chapters or more. All through playing the last chapter, I was like, "No way... this can't be it... it's just way too easy... Hector has to have something else up his sleeve..." and he didn't.

Nothing at all like some of the games I've played--Lufia III for example--in which you're absolutely sure the game is going to end more than once, and yet there's some huge plot twist and the story keeps going, even better than ever.

More major plot events would've been nice, though the whole thing in Chapter 4 with the Sage and the Fool was a fun way to face off with minor "villians" and keep the player interested.

Chapter 5 annoys me sometimes due to its extreme lack of plot, and the menial task you're put to through it.

Very annoying. :) It did have a nice BGM though...

I know what you mean. You just beat Seth-Rah and that´s it.
But the biggest story gap is Chapter 8. Hector is beaten and everyone is happy so why did Ein´s party suddenly decide to defeat Hades (who never appeared before)?

The only way YOU would extend the plot, Feral, is by reviving Ledah.
And Hades was not a story gap, he had to do with the Accursed.
You people seem to forget the Accursed ARE part of the story. They are (at least what you assume at first) is the reason Riviera is threatened with the Retribution, and even without the Retribution at hand, they are a huge threat to Riviera.

Riviera can't be any longer anyways, with multiple endings and such.

WRONG.

I'm writing out (and almost have finished) a version of Chapter 8--with more plot--that has to do with MALICE surviving. It's possible to do it whether or not Ledah lives or dies (I have separate versions of each during important scenes where Ledah or Ein would do a certain thing.)

And while Hades does have a distant connection with the Accursed, his appearance after taking out the original ones (which is so much a typical, almost menial RPG task that it has almost no meaning to the player) doesn't make much plot sense.

Also, in regards to the Accursed, they just seem like a stupid boring task because the player never feels any *real* threat from them. It's just "Oh, no, they're going to take over Riviera with demons!", but you never *SEE* any of the damage they're supposedly capable of doing.

Malice is a much more threatening figure, due to the fact that we know she's killed Serene's people all on her own. She and Hector are the only villains in the game; the Accursed are just convenient monsters used to keep the story going. And while that wasn't Sting's intent, that's certainly how it feels to the player. Which isn't a good thing, at all.

I am never wrong.

That's just stupid. Malice died with Hector, and even if she didn't, Hector died and she failed her mission, so she would likely end her life there.
QUOTE

See? Even if Ledah doesn't need to be brought back, it still requires a "ZOMG ENEMY NOT DEAD" twist, which is stupid, and painful from a plot sense.
QUOTE

It's not distant, they are his servants. The reason he does not appear in the main story is because HE'S LOCKED AWAY.
QUOTE
Also, in regards to the Accursed, they just seem like a stupid boring task because the player never feels any *real* threat from them. It's just "Oh, no, they're going to take over Riviera with demons!", but you never *SEE* any of the damage they're supposedly capable of doing.
Sure, but no, they did not feel like a stupid boring task to me. I knew the end of the game wouldn't come with the last Accursed, but I looked forward to each Accursed. Seeing what they looked like, getting their short backstory (sadly the Isher had none because we were too busy dealing with Ein's story), and then figuring out the best way to take them down. Best parts of the game, easily, were fighting the Accursed.
QUOTE
Malice is a much more threatening figure, due to the fact that we know she's killed Serene's people all on her own.
See, I didn't see it that way. Partially because we don't know EXACTLY what happened to her family (eg, how she did it, we don't know if she stormed and razed the village, or snuck in at night killing like an assassin), and the other part being that Malice is never around. After 2-7, she disappears until 6-6. How threatening; a character that's never around. The Accursed, on the other hand, are always there.
QUOTE
She and Hector are the only villains in the game;
Neither of them are villians. Probably the only villians in the game would be Hades and the Archangel, but we really do not know enough about Hades to say that, I suppose. Death could be considered one, but it's his job to prey on the sprites, so...
QUOTE
the Accursed are just convenient monsters used to keep the story going.
No, they are convenient monsters to make Ein help with Hector's ambitions even as a traitor. He needed souls, and, as was said, it didn't matter whether they were sprite, demon or angel souls.
QUOTE
And while that wasn't Sting's intent, that's certainly how it feels to the player.
Clearly not, or I wouldn't have spent this time responding like this.

You're never wrong and pigs have wings, Sturm :D

Look, there's no point in sticking around threads like this if all you do is whine that every idea I have is against all intents and purposes of Riviera.

Only likely if you consider no other outside factors. Even then, there might be vengeance for the gods in mind, or she might find herself free from Hector's psychological hold over her (i.e. she thinks she has her future back). It's not like she was a WILLING servant of the magus.
