Although Hamtaro being a playable character is absolutely absurd, if they have some kind of trophy thing like in SSBM, then that's probably the only way you'll see Hamtaro. As a cameo in a trophy collection of sorts. Otherwise, no way in hell it will happen.

What's wrong with lightweight? Sure, you get knocked away a lot farther, but Pichu is much faster than most characters. Actually, because of that, Pichu's attacks damaging it don't even matter, because with that speed you'll be able to avoid most things.
Besides, Pichu only has like, four attacks that it damages itself with, and with one of them you can actually still use it without damaging yourself, if you do it a certain way. But it's not like you have to use any of those moves. ~~~  |

It's not its light weightness or his attacks that damage himself that makes Pichu sucks, it's the lack of range. You'd have to get VERY VERY close in order to get attacks in. I prefer Pikachu over Pichu because of this.

Pikachu is awful, he's fat and sluggish.

Pikachu is not awful. He has several attacks which are far superior to Pichu's including his Up Smash, Forward Smash and Aerial Up A.
Anyone with a sword also poses problems for Pichu as their sword attacks take priority over Pichu's attacks. There's also the Reflector. These can potentially keep Pichu at bay. ~~~ |

Besides, I do not recall Pikachu being able to act as a fan item with his down+a attack like Pichu can! AND EVEN IF HE CAN IT'S NOWHERE NEAR AS CUTE. ~~~ |
