Well, the thing is that the annoyance comes from something that doesn't necessarily mean piracy (I only mention that backups work to, in a way, disprove that my Wii can't read burned DVDs, it can). I tried retail DVDs and nonretail from WiiMC and MPlayer, neither work. Well, one time it uh...sort of did, with I guess amusing results (It opened it up like it was a normal data CD, and when I played a "video" it was a garbled clusterfuck of what the hell and when I paused the app had a stack overflow). Bumped the thread earlier today because the rules only apply within the 24 hour limit. Of course, the post has nothing about piracy in it, and its not really about that. If I cared that much about piracy I wouldn't care about something like DVD compatibility with WiiMC or MPlayer. Its really just figuring out a problem with functionality.
No replies yet. Funnily enough threads tend to die with what I asked (MPlayer, WiiMC, WiiSX and Wii64 do not read DVDs, but a backup reads, what gives?).

QUOTE(Dr Sturm @ Dec 14 2010, 05:59 PM) Oh jee-uz. I was thinking retail game disc DVDs, not DVD movies. DVDs depend on one of the IOSs... I was unaware one could play ROMS off of a burned DVD, though. I've never even seen the option. For that I'd honestly recommend memory cards, for actual DVDs, I don't know what to say since DVDx allowed me to play DVDs instantly. Could be your model or whatever firmware you have. With hacking it could be any number of a million things. :/
It seems Wii64 and WiiSX give such an option (Either SD, DVD or USB). One thing that confuses me is that those emulators mention me not having DVDx v2, but at the same time, it seems that Homebrew Channel, after version 1.0.6, does away with that requirement and has the ability to read DVDs installed along with the channel. And i'm not exactly certain if just installing DVDx would do any good (since DVDx is no longer supported anyways). This post has been edited by Elnendil: Dec 15 2010, 05:13 AM

I remember my first semester of College, in which I took a certain class, "Ethics and Society". Got a..B, I think, in the class. Funnily enough, my adviser told me he was surprised, since most people bomb out of it if they take it. Then again, I've had my fair share of screwups.
EDIT: For some fucking reason I cannot sleep. Just checked my grades this semester. B in Cal 2, so i'm wondering if that has to do with me not doing the best on the final, but As for Number Theory and Discrete Math. Neato.
