I'm confused on what a grim angel is... I wouldn't be confused if it weren't for malice. From the way Hector spoke, it sounds like anyone can become a grim angel but you have to be able to get a diviner. But if that were the case why would Ein have had wings in the first place.... Ugh! so confusing!

Grim Angel = Angel of Death
Maybe think of them as some special unit by the government and they need to sacrifice something in exchange for power (diviner) and they carry out the will of the gods in Riviera's case.
Anyone can be a Grim Angel through an assessment and Ein passed this and he has to give up his Wings to become a Grim Angel

Okay so it's like a title? I was just confused on how anyone could be a grim angel when Ein had to give up his wings.

To get a Diviner you have to give up something of extreme value. Ein gave up his wings, Ledah gave up his emotions, and Malice (thought, as she wasn't actually one) her future.
Ferk. I forgot the spoiler rules on this site. Fix'd.

Malice was a fake Grim Angel, and not a Grim Angel in the actual sense. She was deceived by Hector and believed she was a Grim Angel, but in truth she wasn't.

Hector made Skadi for her. And Malice already was an angel beforehand, so making her existing wings black couldn't have been that much of a hassle for him.

Seems the Grim Angel's get black wings so Malice's wings turning black are essential to being identifiable as a Grim Angel (this is only going off the fact every angel we see is a Grim Angel, minus Marietta whom has white wings)
The Archangel is not an Angel. She is a fallen angel. Fallen Angel's have their wings clipped. Her's were restored in a plot-hole inducing deal with Hades. We know that Grim Angels have black wings (as opposed to what other angels have) based on the story about the Ragnarok told in the beginning of the game.

No, I misread because I don't know why you're mixing the games. Marietta is not in Riviera anywhere.
I wasn't saying she was. I'm just saying in the Dept. Heaven series Marietta is the only non-Grim Angel we've seen that is an Angel (The Archangel is a uhm... Dangit, whatever they were called so I didn't count her) and she had white wings.
