In my experience with games they tend to be. English VAs are... unreliable to say. Some just kind of blankly read their lines and it comes off horribly. Japanese VAs always sound good to me.

Native English speakers are entitled/qualified to criticize English voice actors. As for Japanese voice actors, I don't feel you're qualified unless you are a native speaker, or at the very least, an expert speaker.

Japanese people have said the voice actor for Maka in Soul Eater is bad. I never noticed, but I take them at their word that she is bad, just because I'm not a native speaker.

Who do you think should play the various characters in YU. I personally am not familiar enough with English VAs to make up a list.

Michelle Ruff - Yggdra
Reason: I though she sounded quite "Princess-y" (it's not a word) in Odin Sphere, so she should get the lead role in this game.
Yuri Lowenthal - Gulcasa
Reason: I liked his performance in Soul Nomad in the lead role (Gig). Gulcasa has the same sinister attitude as Gig, and therefore he would be perfect.

I know some Japanese. And I watch enough un-dubbed anime I think to know what I think sounds nice anyway. And I natively speak English so I think I'm also entitled to say I think most/some english VAs are terrible.

I just prefer japanese to english. The same way I prefer japanese music or game music to "actual" music (as my brother calls it. He's a racist though). it doesn't make me racist to prefer something.

If that was true I could call everyone who calls me a weeaboo racist because they hate japanese for being... japanese.
