For all those who live on the east coast of the U.S. there was yet another shcool shooting today, at Virigina Tech College, and according to the news there were at least 31 deaths not counting the shooters suicide, the police have not yet released a name though they have an idea who done it. Of course most of the U.S. residents know about this already since the news has been all over it all day, but that brings up the still un-answered question of why, which in turn will no doubt result in some form of blame on the violent nature of american movies, games, etc.

On a side note this attack happened almost exactly 8 years after the columbine shootings(April 20, 1999)

My thoughts? It's a horrible tragedy, but it's happened before and will most likely happen again.

I found out about the shootings in my AP Chem Class earlier in the morning, at that time only 22 deaths were reported, I can't believe that bastard took 33 people out. I feel sorry for the family and loved ones those departed left behind. Hopefully more security measures will be taken so more lives can be saved whenever something like this happens again.

Of course they'll put the blame on movies and games, it's what usually takes the blame in times like this...

Either they're right or they're wrong, but there's several other things that can cause something like that.

*sigh* Some kid in my French class got a call from his dad (in the middle of class) and almost had his cellphone confiscated before we heard what had happened. Then it was on the news last night and everything. It really sucks that stuff like that has to happen.

Has Jack Thompson jumped on this case already? Probably will if he hasn't yet...

I heard about it yesterday morning and heard 22 deaths too, but after I got home I was surprised at the number going up and the stories I heard.

I heard that the school was on lockdown for an hour or two, and when the students were being released after waiting the guy started shooting again.

Yeah, they'll blame the video games, when there are far more suggestively violent things around.

Have they ever considered how the shooters were raised? It's as if they use video games as a scapegoat everytime.

I'm more concerned about how they can blame video games so early into the event's timeline. I mean, so far from what we know, there's no indication that the shooter(s) was/were gamers or anything of the such. All we know right now is that he's like a twenty-four year old Asian guy.

Assumption, Ash. Assuming makes an ass out of you and me, and I won't believe he's a gamer untill I get some proof.

Games are considered to be national sports in South Korea.
