QUOTE(Feral Phoenix @ Apr 13 2007, 08:22 AM) It seems as though he did that stuff, though, so that Embellia and Verlaine would both be too distracted with their own problems to interfere in the war between Bronquia and Fantasinia, so Yggdra would have to fight the war herself, thereby powering up the Gran Centurio.
Please do not stick this whole thing on Nessiah. I have my blowtorch ready. *nods judiciously*
*puts on fire-proof clothes* Sorry Feral, but this is all Nessiah's fault. He did admit he was responsible for all the wars of the past, so why wouldn't he have a hand in those two? As for Aegina/Luciana x Gulcasa... Well, I could see it working, if it wasn't for them being dead. This post has been edited by Megaolix: Apr 14 2007, 06:52 PM

He did have a hand in them. He started them to get Embellia and Verlaine out of the way.
...
Anyway.
What really interests me is why Nessiah was fighting for Bronquia in the first place. Considering that his major perogative is to get Fantasinia to go to war with other countries and so power up the Gran Centurio, and that he was always able to do this before by A.) Lying his ass off to the king/queen of the period, siccing them on another country, and watching the fireworks, B.) Stirring up trouble in other countries and THEN going to the king/queen of Fantasinia, then sitting back with popcorn, or C.) Both of the above, all the while fighting for Fantasinia in order to make sure the Royal line survives so that the Gran Centurio could be passed forward, why the heck would he want to back up Bronquia if he's even HALF as self-serving as general consensus has it?
Doesn't make sense, unless he has some kind of personal attachment to Gulcasa and company.
All he does for the Royal Army in the course of the game is make sure they get Yggdra back so that she'll live to continue powering up the Gran Centurio, which is... weird, to say the least. And he's one of the major strategists for Bronquia.
You don't HAVE to read pairing into that, but you CAN.

QUOTE He did have a hand in them. He started them to get Embellia and Verlaine out of the way. No, he did it to put Yggdra into a situation where she would have to fight. QUOTE and that he was always able to do this before by A.) Lying his ass off to the king/queen of the period, siccing them on another country, and watching the fireworks, B.) QUOTE What really interests me is why Nessiah was fighting for Bronquia in the first place. He wasn't fighting for them, he implanted the idea to attack Fantasinia in Gulcasa in order to cause a retaliation (Justice lies with the Holy Sword, Justice Prevails, all that jazz), as well as leak information about Embellia and Verlaine and such in order to lead to more bloodshed upon those battlefields. QUOTE You've either discovered one of STING's secrets, or are a raving mad lunatic. I'll reserve my judgement, because It's neutral. No, she just likes to make shit up.

Here's my theory :
He needed to start a war. So he looks for a suitable country. He finds Bronquia. Then, he find someone with Brongaa's blood, Gulcasa. Maybe Gulcasa wasn't living a good life at that time. In fact, maybe the people of Bronquia wasn't doing great (after all, a revolution must be helped by the people to suceed). He gives him the idea of becoming Emperor of Bronquia. He helps him in the revolution, earning a position as a general with his strategies during that revolution. Then he gives him the idea of expanding Bronquia by conquest. And guess what is the biggest country at that time...
And he got his war. He knew Yggdra would want to get back her country. He now just needed to involve as many countries as possible, to have the Gran Centurio get more power. And even if she was killed, there was always Luciana and Aegina to fall back on.
I said earlier that maybe Nessiah had a hand with the problems of Aegina and Luciana. Maybe he just created himself a "safety net", in case Yggdra died.
...
You know, that's a lot of potential fic's material here..

@WhiteKnight: I do try. Ever play Sword of Mana? There's canon yaoi in that, provable by game maps, that got edited out of the English version.
@Sturm: If you can't be nice, go away.
@Megaolix: I already have a oneshot awaiting posting (in a fic collection about how the characters' lives intersected prior to the story in both Riviera and YU, so it's waiting on the first Riviera oneshot, about Ein and Rose) that has my theory.
Basically involving the fact that Gulcasa had already completed his coup d'etat, but Bronquia was still in serious economic trouble as well as Fantasinian occupation up to its metaphorical ears, and when he met and rescued Nessiah, our favorite manipulative little troublemaker went "Ooh, opportunity", and when Gulcasa started considering war, Nessiah went "By all means!" and decided to help out in the interest of continuing to strengthen the Gran Centurio.
His personal reservations about taking advantage of someone who took him in are dealt with in my writing.
