The Chao are all the same.
You can breed them to be hero or dark and speed, power or fly.
Depends on what do you give them to eat, and what power ups do you use.

And they have a second evolution. So,
1+3x5x5+3=79 different kinds of Chao.
^_^
(The 3 at the end being the Chaos Chao. Oh, and there are the 3 Tails, Knuckles and Amy Chao, but they can't be bred.)
