I can't speak for America an an entirety, but where I live I think I'm just about the only person who doesn't own a cell phone. Even the kids in grade schools have cell phones. Give it a year or two, America will become another Japan.

Nearly everyone in my school has a cell phone too, I'm pretty sure a decent number of Americans own one, they are more affordable now then in the past. A lot of teens probably have cell phones because its easier for their parents to keep in touch (one of the reasons my parents got me my phone, to easily contact me when I'm out with my friends).

Yes, but unlike the 80% in America, in Japan everyone has a cell phone. I only know one girl in my school without one. (Or wait, she really has one but she got banned from using it for a long time for some reason so she just tells everyone she doesn't have one.) Cell phones are much more accessible, everyone brings their cell phones to school and plays crappy games during lunch. Bringing a gameboy would be impossible because it would be confiscated.

Though I am in a high school. >_<

I still think everyone in Japan has a cell phone though.
