The "squiggly thing" on the second icon is a border brush. The jammed text on the fourth icon reads, "Please don't play with me/my paper heart will bleed".
My life became a lot easier when I discovered Photoshop brushes. XD Although I still do my own text for some icons. Some more:    ~~~ |

I think they are pretty good for such poor scans, which by the way, aren't truly that bad Sturm.

Really, all you have to do is reduce the size and mess with the contrast a bit, and then you pretty much can't tell. ^_^ So it's no big deal.
