Cruz recruiting, sorry i need more help Options

i read that you recruit cruz by going through bf23 without engaging anyone but pamela. but when i tried to do so, cruz did not join me. I figured that since it says "keep following the flags" that i was to beat bf24 as well. after doing that cruz still did nto join me. can someone explain how to get cruz a little better. when exactly does bf23.5 occur in the story (i would assume between 23 and 24) and can i get more details on how to make this work correctly. (ex, you must defeat/not defeat pamela, you must talk to her with x character, you must have this item, etc.) any help would be greatly appreciated!

In 23, after going to the first checkpoint, instead of going to the second checkpoint, you must go to the rightmost square. This will open up a new path, which you have to follow to get to 23.5. That's as I remember it, though... so it may be a bit inaccurate.

The flag with the cursor on it is the flag you want to go to, and the suqare that Nietzsche is on is one of the squares that reveals the flag.
