1) Buy me an ancient Athens cheese grater.
2) Bow before Me Mere Mortals (triple M)
3) Avenge... *cough*... me...
4) Remember who you are... remember...
5) Some cheese. Y'know, to go with this whine.
6) Ask someone on Xelium why every time I connect to their server, my Westell 6100 DSL modem from Verizon freezes up and has to reboot.

[23:23:11] <shade> er, there's nothing unique from our network that you won't find on others when connecting, so if they can connect to other irc servers fine, there should be no reason why it freezes up here
[23:23:55] <shade> the irc server sends a ctcp version, but thats a common irc command, so it shouldn't affect the modem
[23:24:06] <shade> have your friend test other irc servers
[23:24:12] <shade> and also find out how far into the connect they get
[23:24:15] <shade> before it freezes
[23:24:20] <shade> so we know where to start troubleshooting from

I connect to Sorcery (not necessarily at the same time) and it doesn't freeze up (yet).

Tell him that my modem is a year old (and only started acting up within the last month or two). Two weeks ago, it disconnected every few minutes, SOMETIMES (and sometimes it didn't disconnect). It was only last week when I realized that it was freezing up MORE OFTEN (in other words, not only when I connect to Xelium but it's a lot more likely to freeze up) when it was connecting to Xelium.

I haven't tested other servers than the two above. I was hoping they would know something about it, and if they don't, then it's fine. I might get a new modem.

Sometimes I get all the way into joining channels before it disconnects, and sometimes I get disconnected before they fully recognize me and start sending me the rules and such. I'll post it when I get back on my own computer, maybe.

Thank him for me. AND THANK YOU RHIA YOU'VE BEEN VERY HELPFUL <3.

I haven't talked to them again yet, but yeah. I probably will after you resond to this.

Because it only started doing it recently, I'm lead to believe that it's just your modem, though. Also, I connected to SorceryNet (that's the right one, right?) and they don't seem to send out the CTCP version thing like Xelium does. Maybe it doesn't like that anymore? But that seems strange.

Try going to AccessIRC. I know that they also send a CTCP version. If you have the same issue, I think that's the problem.

It most likely isn't a coincidence that it never froze on SorceryNet (No CTCP Version) and it froze on both AccessIRC AND Xelium, which both send out one. See if there's any way you can block CTCP commands or something like that.

Although, you see the full MOTD right at the start for some reason. I only get the short one when I connect. That's weird.

ANYWAY, the point is, you also never even SAW the CTCP Version. Maybe it just doesn't show it on Trillian, but if it usually does (look in the channel, I'm going to do something to you with CTCP stuff and tell me if it said anything about that) then I'm even more sure that it's because of the CTCP Version. <_<

I think it might be something that my ISP may be doing to stop P2P and they're still adjusting it.

There's an option to enable CTCP cloaking in Trillian.
