Well I've already become a hunter, and I'm not restarting again. Anyways, rangers don't blow, they're just not as good as snipers in terms of damage, that's all. The only other difference is Fire Shot and Ice Shot. It's really a matter of personal preference. ^^

And Rai, you haven't mentioned once in this topic if you play this or not. I'm curious.

Which is why I said Rangers blow. Also, Ice Shot is better than Fire Shot because there's more enemies weak to Ice as well as the freeze time on the Ice Shot. These two points alone account for why Snipers are better than Rangers.

Yes, but Snipers fire slower than Rangers. Of course, with bow booster, a Sniper would just as fast as a Ranger without bow booster, but that would also mean a Ranger using bow booster is faster than a Sniper using it. Also, bomb arrow is better than iron arrow. Of course these only being second job skills, you'll be using them for quite a while before being able to use 3rd job mob skills. Rangers don't suck is all I'm trying to say. ^^

Bomb arrows have a 60% chance to stun. That's a 40% chance that the enemy will still charge towards you. With Iron Arrow, the damage dealt is great enough for knock back, which acts as a stun anyway.

Okay then, Rangers don't suck. Snipers are just better. It still gets the point across either way.

Crossbows are much sexier than Bows. They're actually the most technological advanced weapon in the game! So there. And speed only matters when you're firing one after the other constantly. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm always running from one enemy to another in order to 1) Avoid damage or 2) Get in range. So firing speed doesn't matter as much if you're constantly stopping your stream of fire. Rangers are good, but Snipers are just better for the reasons I've already stated. =/

The majority of the MS community who aren't Rangers would agree that Snipers are the better of the two 3rd job classes. However, I disagree with your conclusion about the unnecessity of shooting speed when not shooting continuously, because the shooting speed of the bows / crossbows does not only apply to the speed between each arrow that is shot, but also the time it takes to actually get off a shot.

The case of Rangers vs. Snipers is simply speed versus power, and since speed isn't as important as power is to most people, Snipers are preferred more often. Ice shot, as you mentioned before, is another thing that gives Snipers the slight edge over Rangers. In my honest opinion, if Rangers had ice shot instead of fire shot, a lot more people would be choosing the Ranger path, if not all. :\

Actually, there are more enemies that are weak against fire in the game. Ice has the advantage coz it freezes the enemy... though certain ones (water elemental monsters like Pepes) cannot be freeze.

Oop, my bad. Well doesn't matter. Strafe should be your main damage dealer anyway because it fires the arrows ridiculously fast as well as four times which means a very, very good chance of getting a crit.

Speed does matter. The point where you go from one hitting snails to launching twenty arrows to kill something happens fast. So stop making invalid points or gtfo my topic, ho.

The problem with MMOs is that most players are dumbass mouth breathers who can only see high damage and jack off to it whilst not considering that more damage over time or equal damage over time is just as, if not more, valuable than high numbers.

I can see this problem is rather pronounced in Maple Story too.
