Supernatural stuff from Puerto Rico :
In Puerto Rico, when a baby is born, we used to put black hand charms on their wrists or around their neck. This charm is called "Mano de Sabache", its used to protect children from evil eye.
Also, Ojitos de Andalucia are used. (St. Andalucia's Eyes).
Children are usually given patron saints, guardian angels, to reside over them when they're little. Right now, my grandfather and grandmother are the only ones that have it. My Grandmother's patron saint is Santa Maria de Posos, the Virgin Mary that came to Puerto Rico and saved children near Santurce I believe. Since she's always sick, my grandfather prays to the Virgin Mary to keep my grandmother's health and since she's given them her grace of god, they light a candle every day for her. There's always a candle lit in their house in honor of the Virgin Mary.
That candle will stay lit until my Grandmother passes away.
Interesting stuff. Yes.
