The AI wasn't the only bad part of SO3.

I didn't get far in the story.
But anyways, a list for you:
  • Random loading times - I'd be in the middle of a room, and it would suddenly freeze and say "LOADING". No cutscene or anything. Just Loading for a while.
  • Poor collision detection - I'm a quarter way across the screen from the enemy, who's not even facing me, and BAM; battle. Not to mention, unless you run DIRECTLY into the enemy, it's almost always considered a surprise attack.
  • Poor collision detection (battle) - my sword slices right through an enemy, and no damage or twitch.
  • Item Creation System - Not really explained in game, or in the manual, and seemed very random (whether or not you made an item or not).
  • Poor AI - this has to be brought up. Any setting other than "Go All Out" makes your allies run off and hide in a corner. Setting them on "Go All Out" causes them to use all their attacks, and causes them to suicide. Then, if they end up low on health, they continue right in the middle of the battle field, not evading the enemies at all.
  • Clunky controls - The only way to guard is to stand still and hope for the best, the only way to dodge is to hold the shoulder button and start smashing in the direction you want to dodge to. You can't jump and to use special attacks you have to hold the proper attack button for a certain amount of time.
  • Over reliance on items in battle - I don't know if this changes later (eg, on the second disc), but almost every enemy can inflict a status effect, and no magic heals status. Of course, status effects don't wear off either. Also, simply healing MP/HP will not revive a character. You need a special reviving items. (That's not a complaint of mine in other games, but in this one it should work that way.)

There are others I'm sure, but I can't think right now. And it's been a while since I played.

you serious?

mine worked fine. no loading scenes in the middle of maps. my sword connecting to their asses usually means they're screwed. theres no item creation.

but thats about the stuff that i didn't find that you said.

i still agree the AI sucked.

Item creation?
Yes there is.
Perhaps you just didn't run across the right person that allows you to do it?

I had problems with loading too, but then I realized oh hay, its my Playstation acting stupid. So I got another one (used!) and it works wonderfully. But its a bit hard to finish the game, I hate it when they throw puzzles at you in the last part of the game. I just want to finish!

I passed the Sphere 211 optional dungeon after beating the game, and I agree, the battle AI is ridiculous. I have to control my only effective healer (Sophia) manually just so my team can even survive. I set her on heal friends, or whatever, but what does she do? She goes and attacks the enemies in such a bloodthristy rage that would make even Luca Blight look like a timid guy.

AHAHAHA, yeah, Sophia I have as backup healing, if I ever want to heal I just use Fate. She can blow stuff up easier.

It's not one you learn by levelling up though, you get it from a treasure chest.

Can your side kick or dimension door do 12k+ HP, 1100+ MP damage a hit that covers quite a bit of the battlefield for 10+ hits?
