Oh, did you subscribe to it? If you don't know how to unsubscribe, I can probably help you.
ALSO THIS IS NOW A GENERAL FATE THREAD. I WILL CHANGE THE TITLE WHEN I AM DONE POSTING THIS.
I watched all of the Fate/Zero anime and thought it was alright. And by that I mean it had a lot of really good, strong episodes... but at some point during the second season (after

Waver and Rider were out of the picture, actually)
I just totally lost interest. I did watch all of it, but that ending, man. :( What was that even. And it was hard to stomach seeing a character like Shirou when my only other experiences with this series before were the FSN anime (full of awful Shirou) and the Unlimited Blade Works movie which wasn't even trying to make sense.
I've also read part of Fate/Zero's novel but not too much. I might like it more, but I'm still not sure. Needs more reading to find out and I haven't been doing that.
SO UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS FOR REAL. I wasn't going to despite ufotable until this thread came back to life. I downloaded the first two episode. I'll watch them and post my thoughts later.
It's okay, I'll just stay subscribed to it, was just surprised by the email, thanks for offering help though. As for the topic- I think it might be because I read the original FSN VN, I did not feel that the ending was off cause it was sort of "hinted" while I was reading on the original VN. As for the original series, I didn't watch it so no comments from me there. I do like the Shirou portrayed in Heaven's Feel most followed by UBW and then the Fate route though.

Zero is kind of a mixed bag, and its problems tie in with the same problems the original anime and the UBW had. SPOILERS AHOY FOR ZERO, VISUAL NOVELS, ANIME

Namely that the visual novels (for Fate, UBW, and HF) spent a lot of time explaining Shirou's character and showing his thought processes and how he arrives at the conclusions he does. He is seriously messed up mentally, and his stupidly self-sacrificing nature is only one (albeit major) symptom of it. The original anime and the UBW movie completely failed to show us any of this and even outright exaggerated and misinterpreted him, making him look like a weird idiot you can't really sympathize with. Having to condense all of that into a movie would be very hard work if not impossible, so the movie sort of gets a pass, but the original anime had 20+ episodes to explain Shirou and they just completely failed to do it. (It didn't help that they tried to do a weird amalgamation of Fate, UBW, and HF in it, in each of which Shirou grows differently as a character that are directly contradictory and literally incompatible with one another.)
Zero was better at it, but it too failed to take into account the thought processes that the characters had in the novels, instead choosing to abridge a lot of it or only show the most crucial elements of the characterizations, making it hard to really care about what numerous characters are up to or why they're doing what they do.
ASSORTED FATE THINGS I'LL COMMENT ON NOW GOING BACK FROM A FEW YEARS
I enjoyed Fate/EXTRA and got into Fate/EXTRA CCC too. Hoping to read the Fate/Apocrypha novels someday, or that they get an animated adaptation of some kind. Also Fate/Prototype would have been neat, going from the little fauxpisode they released.
UBW movie was way too short to capture everything in that route which was kinda expected when they announced the movie. I played Fate/EXTRA too and the gameplay gets repetitive but the story and history of various characters kept me going. Too bad there's no english version of Fate/EXTRA CCC yet...
