But, before anything interesting, updates:
- YU Guide: Battlefields 16 and 17 are done.
- Riviera Icons: 13 from Feral Phoenix, 1 from Rhiannon.
- Riviera fanart: Feral's "Behind the Facade."
- YU fanart: Desu's "Yggdra and Milanor."
- Forum Skins: Default (Death of Blue) is back.
The guide now covers through the first Gulcasa battlefield, we have a bunch of new icons and some new fanart. Some of the icons are based on
these scans. For LCN's first birthday, I finally finished remaking the default skin. It is very likely not identical to what it was before, but it's the best I could do; please report anything broken to me (preferably over PM).
Now, onto birthday things. Considering it's LCN's first birthday, I'll give you all a short history of the birth of LCN first.
In July of 2005, two Riviera fansites were formed, Riviera HQ headed by KenaiW, and Riviera Online under the rule of nick1presta. They realized the potential site war brewing, and instead decided to merge the sites into one - dubbed Riviera HQ - in order to make one unified force for Riviera fandom. Then, KenaiW and nick1presta disappeared forever, leaving the members of Riviera HQ to toil away, spamming the forums completely unheeded.
A few months later, a few of the more active members thought "Hey, fuck this place, we'll make our own Riviera fansite!" and, a few months later, following much laziness, several rejected ideas for names (most notably, "Cierra's Chest") and the official announcement of Yggdra Union, LCN0 was born.
LCN0 was a crappy little invisionfree forum, with a special section of links to a special section of drsturm.net providing all the Riviera downloads one could want. It had heart. Unfortunately, the invisionfree server saw this, and felt the need to crush it. On the eve off the release of the awesome YU promotional video, the server leaped into oncoming traffic, destroying LCN0 and all that was once there. However, that was not the end, as those in control of LCN had higher ambitions in mind. Well, we didn't, but we like to claim we did so it sounds like we ditched invisionfree, and not the other way around.
Anyways, space was rented on a DreamHost server, forum software uploaded, and, eventually, an entire site created for Riviera - and in March of that year - Yggdra Union fandom. And now here we are, celebrating the year anniversary of its birth, December 23rd, 2005, when the DreamHost was first paid, and the forum set up for everyone to spam away their love of Riviera.
Well, that's it for the history, happy birthday LCN, hopefully there will be two or three more, but that's it.
And with this,
there will be no more birthday threads. That's right. None. No where; not in news, not in spam, no where. Enough free posts, if you wish to wish someone a happy birthday, email, IM or PM them.
And a last little thing; vote in the LCN Holiday Contest. You have, about, two days left from now to do so.
