As far as I know, the only relation is the same as between the Final Fantasy games.

It hasn't been announced for the US, it comes out in March in Japan.

The "Yggdra is Malice's Ma!" thing was a... very.... out there rumor thought up when this was also rumored to be "Riviera 2."
