> How tough will it be to get everything in Riviera?

Finishing up Yggdra Union now (around BF 44) and I am going to move on to Riviera next...I've heard tell that Riviera's a lot easier on completionists, but how much easier? ^_^

Actually I generally just play through RPGs normally and don't bother too much with the sidequests/extra stuff unless it's really interesting...but for games as good as YU and Riviera I tend to go the extra mile and try to see all the endings/get ultimate weapons etc. Will it be really hard to do that in Riviera? Will I need to S-Rank every battle and hoard TPs like there's no tomorrow?

No need for specific answers...I just want a general "feel" of the game so that I don't play a chapter or 2 and find myself having to restart (like I did for YU) The FAQs aren't that helpful because many of them are spoiler-ridden. :(

It is no harder, nor any easier, to complete Riviera to the fullest, however, it will require more play-throughs and attention.

You should have way more TP then you'll probably really need. But yeah you'll need to S Rank some battles to get some items, specifically the bosses. Plus you have to very carefully manage your inventory, nothing you need for in-game trades is in it but, you don't wanna toss out a good item.

I personally find things in Riviera easier to find, but only as long as you know how to get them of course. It'll take you at least 2 playthroughs to get every single item in Riviera. Or rather I think it'll take a lot more... I forget how many items are 'new' depending on which girl you pick in some events.

I haven't played in a long time, so I probably forgot about any that sit in your inventory that need to be traded...

Hmm, items aren't a huge concern for me unless they are really powerful or make a big difference in gameplay - I'm looking more for scene completion, since I'm a story person. Should I just work to keep all the girls' Trust and Mood around equal until Chapter 6, then shift whoever I want for Chapter 7? (that's my idea so far...)

Well... That would be quite difficult to manage, but if you can do it, I think it would be the fastest way.

Good luck, if you're doing it.

As for items... I think it is easier in YU. You can always get a game over and retry to have an easier time to get some hard-to-get items.

Except, of course, items won with luck like the four-leaf clover.

Retrying disables the procurement of some items. Retrying is not a viable option.

I think that Yggdra Union will probably take more time to finish in terms of getting everything, since one playthrough of Riviera only takes about nine hours. That's just for me, of course, but Yggdra Union takes a lot longer, and you have to play through multiple times to get certain items because if you get one item you can't get the other, etc.

Maybe on an emulator, after having played through a few times already. I don't know about the former, but the latter is definitely not true in his situation.

You only need to play through twice to get all items in YU. Technically, you only have to play through BF33 the second time around, if you make sure to keep a save at BF43 for getting both items in BF43/44, you get all other items and endings.
In Riviera you must play to the end to get everything, though with very careful planning you shouldn't need to repeat the first five or six chapters, but that still leaves seven (and maybe six) that you have to go through six times to get all the endings, and that's provided you got everything else in the game.

The very first time I beat Riviera was when I actually got a hard copy of the game, and I beat it in about nine hours or so. It might have been a little bit longer, maybe like eleven, but it didn't require an extensive amount of time, like Yggdra Union does.

Implying you'd been through it before, thus proving my point.

As I said, that implies you had been through it before getting a hard copy.

So suddenly "very first time", when put together with "hard copy of game" equals " Oh look I've played this game before getting a hard copy."?
