For those of us loved that loved FFTA, this is sure to be a treat.

The map system has been given an overhaul, as well as the graphics and the attacks, magic, etc. Hell even the summons look fun.

Here's a link to the official site:

http://www.ffta2.com/

There's a page for characters, one for classes(that have a little video demostrating their abilities), adn one for the videos. Check it out if you ar anticpating this game.

Sweet. I loved FFTA, such an awesome game. This certainly looks pretty interesting... And it's on the DS! YES!

Any idea if this is coming stateside? Or has it not even come to Japan yet?

That symbol thing looks like a judge, and most likely because it is.

Along with the book which caused the events of FFTA.

I WANT TO SEE THIS HIT STATESIDE.

It's coming to the US

Hopefully the story is good, FFTA's story paled in comparison to FFT.

I never got beyond the 2nd or 3rd level of FFT. Bombs like. Killed the main character so I got a game over. Wish it mentioned that...

I'd like to see more of the characters. Needs moar girls.

FFTA was a weird game for me. I accidentally erased my file twice, and must have played over 300 hours on my current file that will stay there forever. All that's left to do on there is have my vierra-class units master all their attacks... Which is boring.

The sad thing is, I still will pick up FFTA and play it all day.
And complain how bored I am, but then go back to clearing battles to up my AP.
Maybe I deep down actually like the game? Or maybe I'm addicted and need to seek help. If that's the case... Then I'll probably buy FFTA2 in my sleep and not realize it until it's too late. o_o;

I think that was the only thing I liked about the story, how Marche was actually the villain and evil won in the end...

Topic bump!

I went out and bought FFTA2 yesterday. So far it feels like it's presented better. The story's so far nothing amazing or great even, but the characters are enjoyable atleast!

Luso atleast isn't all whoring about how he wants to go home.

Also, if any moderator has a problem with the subtitle being in Japanese, the English equivalence is "Grimoire of the Rift."

It's like you read my mind. As soon as I saw this topic today, I was like "Woah, I hate it when people mix languages, especially in subtitles." IT'S LIKE MEIKYUU NO LOLITA EXCEPT FAR WORSE BECAUSE LOLITA IS MORE JAPANESE THAN GRIMOIRE COULD EVER HOPE TO BE

So how is the gameplay?

It plays almost exactly the same, except some parts feel a lot more fluid and other parts feel slightly below the speed they were at in the first one.

I want to get this.
Has there been an increase to the amount of jobs/classes?
Anything changed with the law system from the first game?

Yes to both. There are fifty six jobs now spanning seven races. As for the laws...

<Rhiannon> ARE THE LAWS STILL SO ANNOYING THAT YOU FEEL TEMPTED TO WALK AROUND FOR DAYS UNTIL YOU GET SOMETHING GOOD?
<Yuka> The law system has been completely redone
<Rhiannon> THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD THING
<Rhiannon> PROBABLY A GOOD THING
<Yuka> So far I've not found any truly annoying laws, it's just a simple forbidden thing.
<Upsilon> you don't have to follow them most of the time
<Yuka> I actually think so far every mission/quest that requires you to do a fight actually has its own preset law
<Yuka> <_<
<Yuka> And yeah, you aren't specifically required to follow the law
<Upsilon> but then you miss out on items
<Yuka> And Privaleges
<Upsilon> which are useful
<Yuka> And the ability to revive your people
<Yuka> <_<
<Upsilon> yeah
<Rhiannon> Oh
<Yuka> It's a lot more flexible this time around, and it's a lot more rewarding to actually follow the laws as well
<Yuka> I don't know if they stack more and more laws on you later, since I'm only like
<Yuka> Four or five hours into the game

I'm starting to dislike the way EXP is distributed in FFTA2. While everyone who hits an enemy (from what I've noticed) gets exp, it seems that most of the exp goes to the people who kill the enemies. More enemies killed, the more exp a person gets. Therefore, it feels like Disgaea in a way, and that just doesn't feel right for this game.

I dunno, maybe the system could stay, but with changes.

Also by law there must be more Classes/jobs than the last Game...
