The second battle with him is the one without a fixed time, however.

In the other one you can get Gulcasa on water quite easily infact. Since he's coming after you, you just have to move your unit ( Nietzsche? ) On the water and he'll go after it. Note that he may send an Imperial Knight instead. That stage is if Dr. Sturm and I are not mistaken a non-fixed time area. you can use sanctuary quite easily to stall with virtually any unit. ( as long as it's noon )

In my Yggdra save (my first), as soon as I got Yggdra to La Pucelle, she became so powerful that I was always able to use her to win against Gulcasa. In the last three fights against him in the game, I was able to send in Yggdra alone, and even though Gulcasa set up unions, he never had a chance. Basically, once you get Yggdra (or, I suppose, other troops as well) up to level 17 or 18, and equip items to make up for whatever shortcomings they still have, all you have to do is go sit them next to him and use such wonderful cards as Crusade, Revolution, Dragon Killer, Ace Guard, Shield Barrier, and so on and so forth.

It's easiest with Yggdra though, because she's guaranteed MVP in at least two battles in the game. Ever since her class change, I was almost always able to send her in alone to fry any enemies I encountered.

But then again, I maxed her level by the middle of chapter 7. So that might be why. Anyway, Gulcasa never gave me any trouble after that, even though practically every battle against him up 'til then consisted of at least one retry and me yelling at him to "BE NICE, GUL-CHAN! I KNOW YOU KNOW HOW!"... see my LJ for details.

You can get this effect from various items. It will pretty much ensure your victory when he uses Genocide, so do you see how useful that is?

Has anyone actually tried using this against Gulcasa? I tried using Snipe Glass on BF 44 and it did not work. Gulcasa activated Genocide, it was 1-on-1 and the skirmish continued until I died.

Nope, it was when he is still in his Dragoon class.

Well, I don't know, I got the Kill Blade to work with Gulcasa during Genocide.

How strange. Snipe Glass works every other time except during Genocide. If it helps at all, Gulcasa did the initial attack, and Cruz is the one that has the Snipe Glass.

I'll restart the battlefield and put the Snipe Glass on another character and see if that changes anything. If not, then Snipe Glass sucks.

I just tried using Kill Blade (Dragoon state) and I didn't get a 1-on-1 = Win when Genocide was in effect. Outside of that however, it works perfectly fine. How weird.

Anyway, two questions which are not related to this:

1) Did you get my last screenshot I sent to you in PM?
2) About the Game Mechanics thread, the section about Fatal Damage and Overkill. Would items that give these effects be also added to that section? i.e. Yashamaru, Killer Beehive and Mjollnir.

Probably, maybe, kinda. The Yashamaru I don't know because it's Heavy Counters, the only difference between it and randomly killing off all members in the counter is that "FATAL DAMAGE" flashes across the screen. I don't recall the Killer Beehive and still have yet to get the Mjollnir, so I can't comment on them.

Killer Beehive is found on 23.5 on one of the squares. It gives the same effect as Yashamaru. I've gotten the Mjollnir and basically, it gives a small chance that on your initial charge that you can completely wipe out all members. Overkill flashes on the screen in the same sense as Yashamaru / Killer Beehive.
