I definitely agree it was slow to let you loose, but I loved it when it finally did. Definitely enjoying it.
I probably shouldn't say this as a pirate, but I think they should start leaving explanations of the game to the instruction manual. Well, honestly, I thought some of the tutorials was either lacking or forgettable because I totally did not know you could swing the Wiimote downwards to make the bird flap its wings and fly higher until about half-way-ish of the game.

Beat it a few days ago. Game was overall alright. Item creativity is seriously lacking though.
